Frank Kenneth Ramsey - A Tribute, John H. Greve, John P. Kluge

Iowa State University Veterinarian

In the midmorning of Thursday, January 9, there was a routine cataract removal, an uneventful postoperative period, and the drive home. He lay down for a nap in the early afternoon, but he never awoke. The impact of the loss of Dr. Frank Ramsey is widely and keenly felt in the College of Veterinary Medicine, across the university, and in uncountable veterinary offices around the world. As evidence of what he'had meant to the college, he was named Clarence Covault Distinguished Professor, and he carried numerous other honors, such as Cardinal Key and Professor of the Year. As evidence ...

Isu Veterinary Ambassadors, Dianne Hellwig

Iowa State University Veterinarian

For most people, initial exposure to the veterinary profession involves the routine care of their pets, working the family livestock, or perhaps a hectic jaunt across James Herriot's Yorkshire Dales. While there aren't many aspiring veterinary students who honestly expect modern veterinary practice to operate like the one at Skeldale House, most are not aware of the countless opportunities that veterinary medicine can provide. The impetus for developing an ambassador group at Iowa State's College of Veterinary Medicine was the desire to reach out to the community, thus fostering a greater understanding of the veterinary profession, as ...

Running a marathon could be likened to surviving a semester at vet school... 13 miles of downhill fun, 9 miles of sweat, and 4 miles of hell. Sophomore year of vet school was the time I decided to run the marathon that I had always assumed I would run someday. It didn't seem that my future was going to become any more accommodating to the required training schedule. My intentions were to run just one marathon so that I would know that I could do it.

This instructional methodology brings together sound, motion, still images, animation, graphics, and text into lessons which are delivered upon request by computer to the student. The delivery of multimedia education to the student has been delayed due to the cost of computer peripherals and software necessary for providing sound and motion of sufficient quality. However, certain aspects of multimedia are readily available today and can be provided to the veterinary student.

A Client-Based Description Of Reflecting Team-Work In Family Therapy , David Norton Brown Jan 1992

A Client-Based Description Of Reflecting Team-Work In Family Therapy , David Norton Brown

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

Though the practice of reflecting team-work has a strong theoretical base there has been little research examining its actual use. What has been written is primarily based on the therapist's and/or supervisor's experience, rather than the client's. This dissertation describes clients' perceptions of two different strategies of reflecting team-work that emerged from interviews conducted and analyzed using a moderately structured ethnographic interview methodology. The primary results suggested that reflecting team-work was helpful in providing clients with different perspectives; that in-room teams should be used sparingly during early therapy; that teams should reflect at least twice in-session ...
