This study examined the relationship of staff participation and desire to participate in the decision-making process of an organization to perceived job satisfaction and role ambiguity and overload of teachers in child development agencies. The study also included an investigation of the methods of decision making most often used by child development agencies to determine if there was a significant relationship between the teachers’ level of satisfaction in participating in decision making and the mode of decision making used in their organizations.

This is a study of the current legal theories, elements, and courts’ stances affecting educational malpractice litigation. General and legal issues were researched as a basis to identify court attitudes and general public pressures. The study also took a look at the question of possible avenues for dealing with problems of educational malpractice. Should the courts decide why Johnny can’t read and award monetary damages? Should the legislature deal with the problem of faulty education, or should a totally different agency become involved in such an undertaking?

Purpose

This study was done to determine (1) if members of the West Virginia Legislature and county superintendents were in agreement as to the role superintendents are taking and should take politically state educational decision making process, (2) if the superintendents and legislators were in agreement as to the political climate presently in the State of West Virginia, and (3) what part certain independent variables play in the actual political role of superintendents.

It was the purpose of this study to determine whether a bias toward female behaviors exists in the school environment that academically handicaps males and results in a higher ratio of males to females being placed in special education classrooms. In addition, the study examined the administrative implications related to sex-role bias and the ratio of males to females in special education classes.

Perceptions Of Nursing Education Administrators And Nursing Service Administrators Regarding Associate Degree And Baccalaureate Nurses In Hospitals, Judith Pinson Sortet

The problem investigated was the degree of incongruence between the perceptions of nursing education administrators and nursing service administrators in regard to the educational preparation and employment practices for technical and professional nurses which has contributed to discontent in the profession. The population studied was nursing education administrators in AD and BSN programs and nursing service administrators in general acute care hospitals in West Virginia. The research method was a descriptive survey using a mailed questionnaire developed by a researcher. Eighteen (100%) of the nursing education administrators and sixty (89.6%) of the nursing service administrators responded.

Papers consist primarily of diaries, newspaper clippings, correspondence, genealogies and photographs of five families: the Glanville-Carter families of St. Louis, Mo.; the Whittakers of Preble County, Ohio; Dorothy Whittaker Atkins of Huntington, West Virginia.; and the Heacocks of Bucks County, Penna.

A significant part of the collection are the diaries of Annie Heacock, a teacher at the Penn School for freed slaves in Beaufort, South Carolina, 1864-1869. Other diaries include the Civil War diary of John Whittaker, a surgeon in the 81st Ohio Volunteer Infantry.

This collection consists of correspondence between Okey L. Patteson (governor of West Virginia) and Lawrence B. Gang during 1951 regarding the proposed location of West Virginia’s first medical school. Lawrence B. Gang, a leading member of the Cabell County Medical Society, advocated for Huntington and his correspondence features reports and attached supporting his stance. Also included in the collection is a final report entitled, “Report by Okey L. Patteson Concerning the Location of the Medical School for Doctors, Dentists, and Nurses in the State of West Virginia”, with the conclusion of the report being that Morgantown was the most suitable …
