The primary objective of this study is to introduce Creative Dramatics as a tool for effective English language instruction in the Lake Shore Junior High Bilingual Center of the Duval County Schools. Therefore, the ultimate purpose of this study is to develop the English vocabulary of these students, which will in turn, increase their level of understanding and performance in English. A Guide For Mainstreaming The Emotionally Disturbed Child Into The Regular Classroom, Rosemary Clifton
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The emotionally disturbed child has a definite place in the normal classroom setting. It is the purpose of this project to help the classroom teacher determine the place in the classroom for the disturbed child and to help the child to learn effectively. A Study Of The Effects Of An Improved Classroom Environment On Secondary Students' Attitudes And Academic Performance, Joseph H. Mccoy
A Study Of The Effects Of An Improved Classroom Environment On Secondary Students' Attitudes And Academic Performance, Joseph H. Mccoy
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
An attempt will be made in this study to determine if a decorated, well-maintained biology classroom has any influence on the attitudes of students toward their classroom, school, subject and teacher. A twenty-item survey containing items which will measure each of the previously mentioned attitudes will be administered to a biology class which uses a decorated, well-maintained classroom. Another biology class taught by the same teacher will also be administered the same survey. However, this class is taught in a poorly-maintained, undecorated classroom. Both classes consist of students who were assigned to them in no particular fashion.
An analysis will …

Cross-Age Tutoring, Joan P. Mcgovern
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
As stated before, it appears that the sixth grade students at San Jose Catholic School would benefit from reading skills practice that would give them the opportunity to become more involved in the learning process. This project is designed to implement cross-age tutoring at San Jose Catholic School with an entire sixth grade class tutoring a second grade class in reading. The goal of the project is to improve the attitude toward reading of the sixth graders. Attitudes before and after tutoring will be rated on a slightly modified version of the Estes Attitude Scale. It is expected, though it …

An Integrated Listening Skills Program For The Kindergarten Class, Bonita Duggan Diamond
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This study will attempt to develop a Listening Skills Curriculum in the areas of auditory discrimination, auditory sequencing ability, and grammatic completion for the purpose of improving auditory comprehension. These three skills are components of auditory comprehension. Auditory discrimination and auditory sequencing ability have been chosen as two skills to develop in this program because past research indicates that improvement in these skills does correlate with improvement in auditory comprehension. Grammatic completion is a modified form of auditory closure in which the student completes the sentence with the grammatically preferred inflectional ending. It is expected that exercises in this skill …
A Preschool Needs Assessment Research Project, Lynn A. Good
A Preschool Needs Assessment Research Project, Lynn A. Good
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This needs assessment research project concerns itself with the lack of parental involvement in preschool programs. The lack of communication between educators and parents is examined in relation to its effects on the child and the community. One possible way to begin to solve this problem is presented through the use of a survey questionnaire for parents and teachers concerning what each group feels are the primary considerations, or needs, for quality preschool educational programs.
The considerations surveyed resulted from an in depth review of the literature pertaining to major early childhood concerns. This research examined five areas of review; …
