Comparison Of Teacher-Directed And Student-Directed Methods Of Using Comprehensive Achievement Monitoring Feedback In Psychomotor Gymnastics Skills Of Ninth-Grade Girls., Carla Margaret Crippen

The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of Comprehensive Achievement Monitoring (CAM), using teacher-directed diagnosis of feedback in promoting achievement in girls gymnastics as compared to using Comprehensive Achievement Monitoring (CAM) with student-directed use of feedback. Focusing on performance objectives in four areas of girls' and women's gymnastics - the balance beam, the uneven parallel bars, the vault (horse), and tumbling - a measurement instrument was constructed, and feedback methods were used to enhance student learning.

A computer-assisted evaluation program, Comprehensive Achievement Monitoring (CAM), was adapted to the structure of the psychomotor instrument. This was a pioneer …

A Comparison Of Teacher Job Satisfaction Between Predominantly Black And White Schools, Louis Michael De Ville

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The study was designed to investigate the feelings of teachers in selected K-6 elementary schools located in northern California, which had a predominantly black enrollment and a predominantly white enrollment as to those conditions of teaching which constitute job satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Null hypotheses related to job satisfaction stated that there would be no difference between job satisfaction scores of teachers in predominantly black schools and teachers in predominantly white schools. Null hypotheses related to job satisfaction stated further that there was no relationship or differential interrelationship between job satisfaction and sex, age, and highest degree completed.

Problem: To determine the relative effectiveness of four methods of contacting non-attending adult students with an invitation message to return to class. The four methods used to contact students were (1) personally, (2) by telephone, (3) by letter, (4) no contact (control).

Purpose: The major purpose of this study was to analyze (1) the proportion of classes students attended after being absent and then being contacted by a volunteer, {2) the dropout rate of students after being contacted by a volunteer, and (3) the reenrollment rate of students after being contacted by a volunteer.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to select a sequence of steps as a model change process and then compare that sequence with the steps followed by the Berkeley Unified School District during the change process embodied in the development and first year's implementation of its Experimental Schools Project.

The problem of this study was to develop a model for (1) statistical analysis of arrays of input in urban Compensatory Education programs, and (2) prediction of optimum arrays of such input as an adjunct to decision-making in future program formulation. The ultimate purposes of the research engaged in were: (1) improvement of administrative and curricular strategies in urban education by elimination of effort-duplication and expenditure-duplication; and (2) development of a statistical device with applicability to both decision-oriented and conclusion-oriented research for ongoing program improvement.

It was the purpose of this study to investigate the premise that if a reading program is based on individual interest, those individuals participating in the program will be motivated to read and will make greater gains in vocabulary skills, comprehension skills, and total reading skills than those taught by a non-individualized approach. The research undertaken fer this study utilized thirty-nine, Black, seventh grade students who were underachieving in reading. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between disruptive behavior and academic performance. Using an ABA design the experimenter trained a teacher of a disruptive class to use precision teaching technique to reduce the incidence of out-of-seat and talking-out behaviors. The experiment was conducted during the history period. The effects of the experiment upon academic performance in history were measured by equivalent weekly history tests. Students participated in goal setting and selection of reinforcement. Students reached their behavioral goals during 4 of the 5 weeks of treatment. This parallel investigation was conducted to survey and to determine the immediate and longitudinal attitude values in selected college women following participation in elective physical activity classes. The expressed attitudes were measured by a modified Carlos L. Wear Physical Education Attitude Inventory adapted for use in this present study by the investigator.

Four experimental groups were chosen according to the cluster sampling technique, representing two life-time sport course offerings of badminton and women's fitness.
