The Effect Of Attending Behavior Training Upon Learning, Martha Sue Peden Dec 1974

The Effect Of Attending Behavior Training Upon Learning, Martha Sue Peden

Dissertations and Theses

Various studies have been implemented concerning the physiological and psychological components of attending behavior, particularly in the area of the exceptional child. Little has been done, however, to develop specific behavioral definitions of attending behavior and to incorporate these into treatment-based research programs involving normal children attending a regular public school.

The purpose of this investigation was to discover if children from a regular public elementary school who are deficient in attending behavior skills can be taught these skills in a short-term behavior modification program and to determine if the skills thus learned facilitate learning within the regular classroom setting.

The Feasibility Of Test Translation -- English To Navajo, Annabelle R. Scoon Dec 1974

The Feasibility Of Test Translation -- English To Navajo, Annabelle R. Scoon

Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies ETDs

The school beginner is expected to be able to follow the language of directions and explanations. Navajo children who enter school essentially monolingual in Navajo and shortly have to accomplish school learning tasks in English may face a double handicap if they have not yet labelled in Navajo the concepts needed in beginning English school work.

Measurement of school related concepts in Navajo was attempted by means of a translation of the Boehm Test of Basic Concepts, a test developed from analysis of early school language requirements. It was assumed that the semantic content of such basic concepts is universal, …

An Investigation Of The Effect Of Dietary Sulfate On Bile Acid Conjugation And Kinetic Studies Of Bile Acyl Transferase In Rat Liver Microsomes, Ramesh S. Verma

Doctoral Dissertations

This investigation was undertaken to study the effect of varying levels of dietary sulfate on the relative conjugation of 14C-cholic acid with taurine and glycine in rat liver microsomal preparations with a view to evaluating the factors controlling glycocholic:taurocholic acid (G:T) ratio at the cellular level. Pure microsomal preparations, obtained after centrifuging at high speed, were incubated with the optimum concentrations of 14C-cholic acid, glycine, taurine, coenzyme A, magnesium sulfate, ATP and sodium fluoride for 90 minutes at 37°. The radioactive cholic acid conjugates fonned were separated with thin layer chromatography and visualized by spraying with phosphomolybdic acid. …
