It has long been recognized that reading problems may be of multiple causation. Some research studies have shown that certain visual perceptual abilities are related to success in early school learning and in beginning reading, but present tests commonly used do not point out strengths, weaknesses, or individual differences in visual perception among "normal children." The high percentage of children with reading disabilities, and children, boys especially, whose reading is not commensurate with their abilities warrants the need for the study presented. Statement of the Problem

It was the purpose of this study to investigate the effect of a public school attendance counselor on (1) school attendance and (2) school achievement for a group of Navajo elementary school children grades 4-6. Two null hypotheses were set up to be tested:

1. There are no significant differences in attendance between those schools with an attendance counselor and those schools without an attendance counselor.

2. There are no significant differences in school achievement between those schools with an attendance counselor and those schools without an attendance counselor.

The purpose of this study was to develop Phase II in the Basic Educational Experiences Program, Phase I (6) of which was already in use in Yakima's Elementary Schools. Phase I was a minimal program in motor-sensory development. Phase II was a program in sequential perceptual activities contributing to and supporting the perceptual needs of the individual child through personal involvement in its activities.

As in any other part of the curriculum, physical education requires equipment, facilities, and personnel in order to help assure a successful program. The degree of attainment of this success will be shown by the opinions of those whose judgments are considered valid. In contrast with this will be the performance capabilities of the students who take part in the program in terms of physical fitness performance, physical fitness knowledge, and neuromuscular skills. Finally, attitudes about physical education are also held to be important and should also be judged.

This study proposes to see what percent of the principals surveyed, by means of a questionnaire, agree or disagree that they fulfilled the stated roles for developing curriculum for use in a "cooperative" team teaching approach to instruction in their schools. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there was any significant difference in the behavior ratings of the two groups of fifth graders between those students who received the "value-clarification" process and those students who did not. The clarification process is an approach to clarifying the values of students. The teacher asks questions, during group or private individual sessions, of the students.
