Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

There is very little literature pertaining to the Public School Music curriculas of the state teachers colleges in the United States.

Music teachers disagree as to the text to be used in music courses. Of all the various public school music texts available it is difficult to find any one text that is most worthy of recognition as there seem to be many of equal value. Not only is there …

The measure of effectiveness was that as indicated by scores on standardized tests interpreted as reading ages, and other evidence that this will be …

An Attempt To Determine Why Teachers Fail, Ethel Craig Aug 1936

An Attempt To Determine Why Teachers Fail, Ethel Craig

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Personal efficiency is an increasing problem before the American public. Every agency that will aid in the successful accomplishment of any desirable goal should become a matter of thoughtful consideration. Success, as defined by a lexicographer, is a favorable end or result; therefore it may become an ever advancing goal toward which an individual moves.

Failure by the same authority, is the set of falling short of success. There is a divine principle within the heart of man that responds to the rhythmic progression of success; while the most callous individual retires to the sanctity of his private world to …

A Study Of The Frequency With Which The Small & Capital Letters Are Used, Vivian Gillespie Aug 1936

A Study Of The Frequency With Which The Small & Capital Letters Are Used, Vivian Gillespie

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Because of the fact that so little has been done to create a scientific, objective basis for a sound course of study in penmanship, it has long been the desire of the writer to develop some ideas that presented themselves several years ago. It has occurred that there is a real need for a basis of fact, rather than mere personal opinion, in the teaching of penmanship.

While the great pen artists and the great penmanship teachers of the past and present have wrought exceedingly well and have made a wonderful contribution to the improvement of handwriting pedagogy, there still …

The Relation Between Attendance And Achievement In The Third Grade Of The San Jose School, Vera Cutler

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

Are teachers justified in the belief that the student who is frequently absent from school cannot acquire the fundamental education gained by the child who attends regularly? Does the child with greater intelligence attend school more regularly than the child of lesser intelligence? If not , does his greater intelligence make it possible for him to acquire the knowledge whether or not he attends school regularly? This study seeks to throw light on these questions by determining what relation exists between school attendance and achievement when intelligence is held constant.

To present an answer to the above question is the main purpose of the present investigation. Answers to the following three specific questions would seem to furnish a substantial basis for answering the principal question indicated: (1) What is the opinion of leaders in the …
