Boys are diagnosed five times more frequently than girls with Attention Deficit (ADHD). Further, teachers are finding it hard to cope with boys with ADHD due to a lack of understanding about ADHD symptoms and boys' personalities. Frequently medication has become the first option in addressing these issues. This research study examined current practices used for boys with behaviour problems as well as trialling a number of alternative approaches such as music therapy, aromatherapy, yoga, building and construction, gardening and computer generated learning. A Cognitive Load-Centric Inquiry Into Mathematical Problem-Solving In Moderate To High Ability Stage 4 Students: An Exploratory Study, Nicolas Zenteno

This research project examines problem solving processes in moderate to high-ability grade 7 and 8 mathematics students using cognitive load theory as a theoretical basis. This was done using a qualitative method and thematic analysis to identify the theme of cognitive load as it arose during four audio-recorded interview sessions with the six participants. A model is presented that examines the problem solving process based on the data collected in this study. Despite some gains, improving secondary mathematics instruction remains an area of concern of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Recitation, also known as lecturing, prevails as the practice of choice of mathematics teachers in the United States. Current research shows phonological awareness plays an important role in a kindergarten student's ability to read. Phonological awareness (PA) is identifying and manipulating parts of spoken language, such as words, syllables, onsets and rimes, and rhyming. Typically teachers experience professional development as something that is presented with minimal opportunity for teacher choice and decision-making.
