A Model Delivery System For Education In The California Youth Authority, Gordon L. Spencer

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a model delivery system for education services in the California Youth Authority (CYA). The model included a model administrative organization, a financial model, and a support services model. Procedures: (1) Related literature was reviewed to establish principles regarding administration and organization, finance, and support services in correctional education. These principles were then compared with existing conditions in the CYA. (2) A questionnaire was administered to CYA staff to determine which of seven proposed administratjve models best met thirteen pre-determined criteria. The Relationship Between Perceived Locus Of Control And Achievement Among Filipino-American Students In The Elementary Grades., Estela Guevara Pinga

Purpose: The purpose of this dissertation was to verify research information concerning perceived locus of control (PLC) on a population sample composed of 154 Filipino-American students in Stockton Unified School District. Perceived locus of control is a personality construct derived from Julian Rotter's social learning theory. Rotter posits that the probability of the occurrence of a particular behavior is determined, not only by the importance of the goal to the individual, but also by his expectancy that this goal will be achieved as a consequence of the behavior. The Effects Of Perceptual And Piagetian Training On The Reading Achievement Of First Grade Pupils, James Clark Lane

Purpose: This study was designed to investigate the effect of pairing cognitive training, developed from Piaget's theory, with perceptual training on reading achievement. Also investigated was the effect of cognitive and perceptual training by themselves, as well as that of a cont:col group on reading achievement. A second purpose of this study was to investigate whether or not perceptual errors would be reduced by pairing perceptual and cognitive training as opposed to perceptual, cognitive or control training alone.
