The purpose of the study was the standardization of a library skills test for Tacoma, a metropolitan school district of approximately 34,000 pupils in the State of Washington. The test was standardized on the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grade populations of the district using representative samples. Answers were sought to the following questions: (1) Is the library skills test appropriate for the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grades in Tacoma? (2) Is the test appropriate for both boys and girls at these grade levels?

In this study an attempt was made to statistically analyze the effects of using money as a reinforcer when teaching spelling to emotionally disturbed, socially maladjusted children. Equivalent forms of the California Achievement Tests and weekly spelling test scores during a four-week, non- reinforced period were compared with similar scores for a four-week, reinforced period.

The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of two methods of reinforcing learning gained from programmed material in seventh grade geography classes. The means used for evaluating effectiveness were: (1) comparing retention of the factual knowledge of the material by students exposed to the two methods immediately after completing the material, and, after a time lapse of six months, and (2) comparing the ability of students to transfer their factual knowledge of the material immediately after completing the material, and, after a time lapse of six months.

This experiment was designed to extinguish a sixth grade boy's undesirable classroom behaviors by the complete withdrawal of teacher attention, and to develop and increase in successive approximations, the child's desirable classroom behaviors by frequent and intermittent teacher attention. The study was meant to be: (a) research replicating numerous other similar studies, but in addition be a behavior modification experiment conducted in a regular classroom setting in an elementary school and in as practical a way as possible for a teacher with 30 students, and (b) a response to a request from the boy's teachers for service and help.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between anxiety and achievement, and anxiety level and sex. The anxiety level was measured by the Institute for Personality and Ability Testing (IPAT) Anxiety Scale Questionnaire. Specifically, this study investigated how assessed anxiety relates to the achievement of students in Junior level Psychology courses. The courses were Human Growth and Development. This paper has represented an effort by the writer to learn something about two major clarinet compositions and about their composers, and to provide for the readers of this paper a means of better understanding Wolfgang Mozart and Camille Saint-Saëns and their clarinet compositions. The study of these compositions has been in connection with the preparation for their performance in a Graduate Recital by the writer. The two composers studied in this project represent two periods of music history, two different styles of composition and two different personalities.
