The student council idea is now widely accepted in secondary schools in the United States; its full potential in contributing to the education and lives of students has not been realized fully in a great many instances.
The student council is a dynamic movement and because it is dynamic it is capable of change to meet new conditions. Hence, it cannot remain basically the same year in and year out. The changing dimensions of the student council can be realized only if students, faculty and principals work at it.

Inferred Values Of Clothing Related To Adjustment Among Pregnant Women, Violet Elizabeth Dowdeswell
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The first objective of this study was to investigate the adjustment of women during pregnancy through various indices, namely: level of anxiety, attitudes to pregnancy, and perception of body-image boundaries, and to investigate the relationship among these indices. A second objective was to determine if a significant rank order of values inferred through clothing exists among pregnant women, and to relate these values to the measures of adjustment. The comparison of women by trimester and gravidity on the measures of adjustment and the inferred values, was a third objective.
The theoretical framework proposed that adjustment to the stress of pregnancy …
Replication: A Teaching Technique And Its Impact On Student Open-Closedmindedness, Dale H. Decker
Replication: A Teaching Technique And Its Impact On Student Open-Closedmindedness, Dale H. Decker
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The problem for the study was the lack of research on the effect of the empirical replication technique on student closed-mindedness. The replication technique requires the student to repeat, or replicate, studies originally conducted by social scientists. In this sense, replication is roughly analogous for the social sciences to what laboratory experiments are for the natural sciences. Additionally, the relationship between college student adjustment-maladjustment and open-closed-mindedness were explored while controlling for sex and academic achievement.
The control group (N=61) attended two lectures and a discussion section per week which dealt with introductory social science materials. The experimental group (N=85) was …

How can I find a job by looking at a newspaper?
What articles does this magazine contain?
What is an index?
How do I find the meaning of this word?
These are problems which any high school student may encounter. Some students may be able to locate the answers immediately. However, the student with a reading disability may be greatly hampered and frustrated because of his lack of general skills in reading and locating information. This student may have difficulty finding facts from common sources of information both in and out of school.
The Identification And Fostering Of Creative Ability, James W. Lundahl
The Identification And Fostering Of Creative Ability, James W. Lundahl
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
Guilford's (1959) studies indicated that there are over 120 different factors of intelligence and that just a few of these factors are measured by the available intelligence tests. To do well on the typical intelligence test, the subject must be able to recall and recognize, perhaps even use prior learning to solve problems; he need not necessarily be able to invent, innovate, or create new approaches and ideas to the problems society faces.
This report will identify other factors that are indicative of creative ability and then give ways that this creative ability can be fostered and developed.
The Value Of Counselor Services In The Elementary School, Maxine M. Allred
The Value Of Counselor Services In The Elementary School, Maxine M. Allred
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
One need only study current statistics concerning patients in mental hospitals, the emotionally ill, the number of suicides each year, disturbed children in school, alcoholics, juvenile delinquents, drug addicts, etc., to be made aware that a great number of individuals in our society do not reflect characteristics of a healthy development.
It is as a result of some frustrating, yet rewarding, years of classroom teaching experience in trying to plan and provide for experiences that would most satisfactorily meet the needs--sometimes undefined, sometimes vague, always unique--of individual students that the writer has become interested in what supportive services a counselor …

A Study Of A Portion Of The Distributive Education Teacher Preparation Program At Utah State University, J. Grant Brough
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
The major purpose of distributive education is to prepare the student for entry-level employment in distributive occupations. This preparation should help workers become successful and advance in their chosen field of distributive occupations.
No matter how instruction is organized, when it is identified as vocational distributive education, there are no differences in the results desired. Students are to be able to meet employment qualifications with the confidence and the competencies necessary to begin marketing and management careers.
To meet this goal, the student should qualify himself to receive satisfaction and contentment in his work. Sidney P. Marland's deep expression in …

A Comparison Of Perceptions Of Parents By Students In Three Different Schools, Lorin A. Broadbent
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
There seems to be little doubt about the complexity of the parent-child relationship. Increasing research continues to emphasize the importance of this relation to the healthy personality and the self-concept of the youth. Gregory (1958) notes that there is considerable data showing that children who have lost parents due to separation or death have a much greater chance of manifesting antisocial, delinquent, or psychopathic disorders.
There is a great deal of research pointing to the problems, reasons for the problems, and the results of the problems in parent-child relationships. Many studies indicate that it is important for a child to …

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
The history of men's intramurals at Utah State University has been one of improbable beginnings with unrecognized goals . It has grown to a program of very positive beginnings, and very recognizable goals.
This was done by implementing far reaching and forward looking ideas. Of Course, there were many times during the course of the departmental history when miscalculations were made; but in general, they were for the best.
The program now encompases three campus-wide leagues with some thirty to sixty teams, depending upon the sport.

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
Today there is much discussion about the functions of various school personnel specialists. Because of the rapid growth of these specialists—the counselor, the psychologists, and the social worker—many questions are being asked, such as: Should guidance workers be generalists or specialists? What certification requirements should be met? Should the three disciplines—counselors, psychologists, and social workers—work as a team or individually? Finally, should counselors, psychologists, and social workers teach as part of their function in the school?
An analysis of the extent of overlap between the functions of the three disciplines requires the consideration of professional preparation, ascribed roles, and primary …
