This study grew out of a conviction that there is a need for a critical examination of the factors which combine to make a successful and efficient secondary school principal in the educational system of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. These factors should include the educational and religious background of the principal and his preparation, attitudes, and abilities to cope with administrative and disciplinary problems. They would also include the requirements of the job, both in a general sense as applied to educational administration, and specifically as applied to administration of education in Seventh-day Adventist schools.

It is concerned with the average of some standard objective test scores obtained by testing a selected sample of high school seniors who were tested in a regular classroom situation; and with the average academic grades earned by the same sample of students during their first semester and their first year in college. This study is an effort to point out the need for Federal assistance to education in areas in which Federal activity causes an inequity of educational opportunity for children. The construction of Shasta Dam in Northern California caused an influx of both government and contractor employees resulting in educational hardships for children in that area. This is a study of the problem that is involved when a Federal activity enters an area previously devoid of such activity.

It was the purpose of this study to determine by means of standardized tests and questionnaires which of the following thirteen factors, if any, may have affected the speech attitudes, as evaluated by Knower's Speech Attitude Scale, Form F,3 of students enrolled in Lodi Academy at the time of the testing: Physical--age, articulation, sex; Educational--grade level, oral reading, scholarship, silent reading; Psychological--emotional adjustment, intelligence, residence with parents, size of family, social adjustment, and unity of religious beliefs.

The pole vault is an event performed in track and field athletics wherein the athlete, with the aid of a pole 14 and 15 feet in length, attempts to clear a crossbar resting on two pegs supported by two standards. The standards, or uprights, are placed not less than 12 feet nor more than 13 feet apart. The vaulter cushions his fall in a pit filled with shavings. The object of the event is to vault higher than your competitors.

Boards of education throughout the country are cognizant of the shortage of well qualified elementary school teachers. There has been considerable competition among school boards for the limited supply of teachers, so much so that teachers have been tempted to move from place to place, standards of teaching proficiency have been lowered, and little relief of the general shortage has been achieved. When a school system has succeeded in filling all teacher vacancies, too frequently complacency reigns until the beginning of another school year.

The purpose of this study was to discover if there is a relationship between reading loss and visual disability and to assay the reading losso that is characteristic for individuals with a visual disability. The intent was not to diagnose that all reading loss can be attributed to a visual disability or define visual defects, for the latter requires a careful examination by an eye specialist, but rather to determine if the child’s reading may be affected by a blurred visual image or by eye-muscle fatigue.

The schools of the San Juan Union High School District, of which La Sierra High School is a part, have not operated under a common plan for the orientation of new teachers. It was the judgment of the investigator that there should be such a district plan. The purpose of this study is to predict the GPA for the students from their SCAT scores. The specific objectives of this study are as follows: (1) to show what degree the GPA can be predicted from the SCAT scores and to what extent they will fall between the standard error of estimate of the regression equations and, (2) to predict the GPA of students in the area of their respective major.
