The purpose of this study is to find evidence that will show whether or not there is a need for a school housing program in the small rural school districts in San Joaquin County, California. The study is justified by a comparison of the present conditions of the schools to a set of standards for good schoolhouse construction which have been established by noted authorities and educators in the field.

An attempt was made in this study to determine if teachers’ opinions on what constitutes a behavior problem from the standpoint of a child’s personal adjustment is the same or nearly the same as the opinions of psychologists. A similar study was made by Wickman.

As one part of the study a correlation of attitudes was made between a group of seventy-six third, fourth, and fifth grade Tulare County Teachers and eighteen school psychologists in the State of California.

The purpose of this study was to find for the fiscal year 1950-51 some characteristics of the variou sizes of California school districts as indicated by the average daily attendance for the fiscal year 1950-51 in relation to (1) the average current expenses per unit of average daily attendance, (2) the average state apportionment per unit of average daily attendance, (3) the average transportation costs per unit of average daily attendance, and (4) the average district tax rates.

There has been much concern as to the validity of the Graduate Record Examination in determining the ability of a student to do effective graduate work. In 1945 and 1948 the Bureau of Business Education of the California State Department of Education compiled business subject enrollments for an extensive sampling of secondary schools in the state. These data were basic source materials for the preparation of a Report of the Sub-Committee for Vocational Teacher Training, which presented " recommendations for revisions and additions that will assist in keeping the program geared to the supply and demand for teachers and the changing procedures and conditions of employment."
