This research project looks at how technology is being utilized in Analytical Chemistry 1 and how can technology usage be improved. The study started out with a lesson that was designed for discussion sections during one week of the semester. The lesson contained how to derive fractional concentration equations and how to use Excel to enter equations and plot the data correctly. Much of the education provided to individuals with intellectual or disabilities (IDD) focuses on living skills rather than teaching how to read and write at an age-appropriate level. Little is known about appropriate reading materials and instruction to assist adults with IDD. This population needs more systematic and structured methods of teaching literacy, as for example, by integrating illustrations into literacy education to facilitate comprehension. The purpose of this study was to look at the evaluation aspect of the STEM integration pedagogy that the ASSIST research team has developed through the University of Iowa and a Title IIA Teacher Quality grant. Through this, they have created a training program and an instructional approach based on the four disciplines of science; Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics.
