In a country filled with pressure for high academic achievement at the state and federal levels, it is necessary to implement "best practice" teaching strategies for student success. "Best practice" teaching strategies are strategies that are research based and have proven to be essential in increasing academic achievement. A Resource Guide For Embedding Multicultural Capital Into The Secondary Science Classrooms Of Central Washington, Theresa Susan Bell

The multiple aspects of multicultural education were researched and are here-in compared and discussed. Through research it was found that although much research exists on multicultural education, little or no multicultural resources are available for secondary science specific to Central Washington. Implications for multicultural education, science education and the integration of the two are discussed. A collection of lessons, websites and teacher tools were merged into a resource guide that can be used for local lesson planning. Practical ideas are offered to the inexperienced multicultural science educator.

An Investigation Of The Demonstration Method For Teaching Critical Thinking In Elementary School Science, John Gilbert Eyres

The purpose of this study was to determine (1) the effectiveness of the demonstration method, as used in science on the elementary school level, in teaching the critical thinking ability; (2) whether a reliable testing device could be designed to measure critical thinking ability at the elementary school level; and (3) whether there exists a relationship between the mental ability of elementary school children and their ability to do critical thinking.
