No Time Like The Holidays To Add A Little Exercise To Life, Kay Hyatt Dec 1996

No Time Like The Holidays To Add A Little Exercise To Life, Kay Hyatt

General University of Maine Publications

The hustle and bustle of the holidays can wreak havoc with even the best of fitness schedules and provide more excuses for all those who know they should make time for exercise but keep putting it off. If exercise is viewed as a daily grind, then it's time to change that attitude and get moving, says a University of Maine fitness specialist.

Holidays Increase Pressure On Children In Changing Families, Kay Hyatt Nov 1996

Holidays Increase Pressure On Children In Changing Families, Kay Hyatt

General University of Maine Publications

For children caught in the middle of an expanding web of households, the pressure can take the fun out of holidays and turn anticipation to dread. The key to easing the tension is honest and positive communication, says a University of Maine professor. Tyranny Of The Many, Jonathan A. Plucker Nov 1996

Tyranny Of The Many, Jonathan A. Plucker

General University of Maine Publications

In this age of government distrust, the voter referendum appears to be the ultimate democratic fantasy come true: Government by the people, for the people, without any interference by politicians, special interests, or other denizens of the American political system. But referenda in the past couple of years call into question the wisdom of placing legislation directly before the voting public for approval.

1996-97 Women's Basketball Media Guide, Maine Sports Information Office

General University of Maine Publications

The 1996-97 season should be an interesting one for the Black Bears as they pursue a third consecutive conference championship and NCAA berth. In keeping with the UMaine tradition of academic excellence, the two previous teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament have combined for a 3.0 GPA or better. The Black Bears completed the best season in the program’s 21-year history with a 27-5 record last year. The team went undefeated, 18-0, in conference play, the second team to do so in NAC history.

UMaine returns three starters from last year’s squad including the leading scorer in the nation from …
