A Study Of The Holding Power And Follow-Up Of North Bullitt High School Students (Classes Of 1978, 1979 And 1980), Robert Wagoner

Data concerning the Classes of 1978, 1979 and 1980 from North Bullitt High School, the Bullitt County School System and the State of Kentucky were compared to determine the holding power, survival rates and whereabouts of graduates. The comparison of data concerning holding power and survival rates showed that North Bullitt High School compared favorably with both the Bullitt County School System and the State of Kentucky. The data showed that for the three year period from 1978 to 1980 the holding power of North Bullitt High School increased while the holding power of both the Bullitt County School System …

Spivack and Shure’s (1974) Interpersonal Cognitive Problem-Solving (ICPS) model was evaluated on Educable Mentally Retarded (EMR) children. The major question was whether the implementation of Shure and Spivack’s (1978) Kindergarten Interpersonal Problem-Solving Program (KIPS) would enhance the ICPS skills and behavioral adjustment of EMR children up to the level needed for successful integration into the regular classroom. The study included 40 EMR children from ages eight to fourteen. The subjects were divided equally into two groups, one receiving Shure and Spivack’s (1978) KIPS program and one receiving informal social skills training. The passage of Public Law 94-142, the Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975, mandates that parents of a handicapped child must be included in the educational planning and placement procedures for their child. The law requires (1) parent counseling and (2) parent participation in the planning of the child’s educational career. Yet almost six years after the passage of Public Law 94-142, the role of parent which emerges today appears to be one of passive involvement in the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) process. A Study Of Opinions Of Returning & Non-Returning Freshmen At Western Kentucky University Regarding Academic Advisors & Selected Student Personnel Services, Mary Higgins

Three-hundred ten non-returning and two-hundred nineteen returning Western Kentucky University freshmen were surveyed regarding contact with academic advisors, availability of advisors, and quality of advisement, as well as awareness, use of, and value of selected student personnel services.

One-hundred eighteen (53%) returning and one-hundred fifteen (37%) non-returning students responded.

Returning and non -returning students differed significantly regarding number of contacts with advisor and perceptions of advisor availability. Returners reported more contacts with their advisor than did non-returners ,and returners were more likely to find their adivisor readily available than non-returners.

More non-returners used counseling services and developmental studies while returners …

Mutual benefit can accrue from the awareness held by a local community concerning the international student community within its geographical area. This survey attempted to develop an instrument which could assess the level of awareness of the Bowling Green community regarding the international students attending Western Kentucky University. A thirty-one item, short answer survey was administered by the interview method to a twenty-five member sample of persons randomly selected from the list of civic organizations published by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. Two groups of Title I Math teachers, one representing school systems which reported second and third grade student achievement gains of one year or more on the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills for 1978-79, and one group which reported gains of less than eight months, were surveyed in an effort to identify which methods of presentation and types of materials apparently contributed to the most successful Title I Math programs, in terms of student achievement gains.

The purpose of this study was to investigate and identify organizational and administrative trends in university club sports. The general research design was the survey via a questionnaire distributed through the mail. The sample was limited to the 102 colleges and universities with student populations between 10,000 and 17,000 as listed with the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association Directory. The questions were developed under the general topic area headings: Departmental Supervision, Sponsored Clubs, Memberships, Departmental Financing, Budget, Budget Expenditures, Contest Arrangements, Class Excuses, Academic Standards, Locker Space, Office Space, Varsity Status, Legal Liability and Facilities.
