There are only seven broadly conceived master's degree programs in dance in the country, and none are in the SUNY system. The proposed M.A. in Dance is a terminal degree which speaks to the needs of artist-teachers, production specialists, notation-specialists, kinesiology specialists, and must for dance specialists. This extensive proposal outlines the structure of the program, including facilities and equipment needed, sample course sequence, course description, library holdings, and faculty names and vitae.

The credit load for EDI 795: Seminar in Reading Instruction will be increased from 3 hours to 6 hours to reflect increased learning competencies. The total hours for the program will be increased from 30 hours to 33 hours.

Due to an amendment in the Education Law- Section 207, persons obtaining provisional certification after January 1, 1978 are required to complete graduate study which leads to a masters degree and which is "functionally relevant" to the area in which they seek permanent certification. In addition, two years of appropriate professional experience is required. This proposed revision for the masters degree in general elementary education is designed to offer a program of studiesto student which meets the requirements of a degree program of the state, and the needs and expectations of candidates for permanent certification.
