There is growing recognition that many college students enter the workplace lacking “21st Century Skills” such as critical thinking, collaboration and communication. Peer-to-peer feedback provides a large number of benefits, including these “lifelong learning” skills valued by industry. Peer review, however, poses many challenges: for instructors; these include management of the process and poor quality of peer feedback; and for students, socioemotional barriers. Key socioemotional challenges are learners’ lack of trust in the process, in their peers, and in themselves as reviewers. Research has shown that social and emotional learning (SEL) can benefit students in affective, interpersonal, communicative, and academic realms. However, teachers integrating SEL face a variety of logistical, pedagogical, and skill development challenges, including how to effectively facilitate classroom conversations on social justice and personal loss. This article draws from classroom observations, teacher conversations, interactive journals, and field notes to describe a seven-month-long university-school partnership to carry out an action research project in a high-poverty rural elementary school in the US. Library Reports

Lesley University's institutional repository (IR) continues to grow since it's launch in May 2017. This report discusses the addition of new collections including the migration of an academic journal, and the addition of two conferences. It also discusses the outreach efforts of the digital team and comments on the download metrics and how they indicate the demographics of users accessing Lesley scholarly and creative works. An infographic is included to provide a visual report of these metrics and to highlight the impact of Lesley scholarship.

The Lesley College Schools for Children collection contains catalogs produced annually and other records from the schools (the Carroll-Hall School, the Lesley-Dearborn School, and the Lesley-Ellis School) that the former Lesley College acquired. Each catalog contains a history of the school, information about faculty, admission, buildings, course descriptions, academic calendars, school policy, and tuition and expenses. The collection also contains a book of published poems from students in Lesley-Ellis Schools' creative writing class from 1958 - 1964.

The interviews are in digital .wav audio format. Transcripts of selected interviews, pre-interview preparation materials and administrative paperwork are also available.

The Lesley Magazine Collection comprises issues from December 1987 to Winter 2008, and also includes the special Centennial issue, 2009-2010.

Lesley Magazine was published biannually by the office of public relations at Lesley University and was distributed without charge to alumni and friends of the University.

Finding Aids

The Lesley College Current was published by the Lesley College Office of Public Relations and Communications and distributed to alumnae, parents, students, faculty, staff, governing boards, and friends of Lesley.

Its purpose was to represent various aspects of the College - its achievements, aspirations, diversity, and controversies. In September 1970, the Current replaced the Alumnae Review, the Parents Newsletter, and the Community Newsletter.

This collection consists of a variety of materials that are organized into the following categories: artwork, objects, scrapbooks, and textiles. Some highlights include former president of the Lesley College Board of Trustees Livingston Stebbins’ family coat of arms, the trowel that former Lesley College President Trentwell Mason White used during the dedication ceremony of Trentwell Mason White Hall, a gym suit from the 1930s-1940s, and a green Lesley blazer. Also included are several scrapbooks, one of which chronicles the life of a Lesley School student in 1929.

In addition to papers created during her presidency at Lesley, the collection includes feature articles about McKenna when she became the Director of the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe College and select papers from her positions with Radcliffe, the White House, and the Clinton/Gore Presidential Task Force on Education.

The collection contains course catalogs produced annually by Lesley College (the undergraduate school), which had the following name changes: the Lesley Normal School, 1909-1920; the Lesley School, 1920-1944; Lesley College, 1944 - present. The course catalogs contains names of administrative officers and the Board of Trustees, faculty, a brief history of Lesley College, description of library facilities, instructions for admission and registration, requirements for degrees, description of types of financial assistance, tuition, and fees. The collection contains the following years: 1909-1910, 1913-1914, 1917-1918, 1919-1920, 1922-1923 to 1923-1924, 1926-1927 to 1940-1941, 1943-1944 to 1944-1945, 1947-1948 to 2004-2005, 2006-2007 to 2009-2010.

The Lesley Review was a quarterly publication by Lesley College featuring articles on current events, issues, and alumnae news. The Lesley Review collection comprises issues published between 1958 and 1970. The Spring 1958 issue (vol. 1, no. 1) of the "Lesley Alumnae Bulletin" appears to be the predecessor to the "Lesley Review." In Fall 1967, the "Lesley Review" changed its title to the "Lesley Alumnae Review."
