Sam…Will Students Again Be A Political Force?, The Maine Campus Oct 1974

Sam…Will Students Again Be A Political Force?, The Maine Campus

Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

The Student Association of Maine has embraced an ominous task. In its effort to represent 32,000 post-secondary students throughout the state, conflicts are bound to surface. But if SAM can unify its student membership, the prospects for developing a powerful voice in Augusta, a voice that would be heard in the halls of the State House and reverberate back to individual campuses are bright.

Target: Augusta. A New Statewide Force Prepares To Focus Student Influence On Maine Politics, Jeff W. Beebe Oct 1974

Target: Augusta. A New Statewide Force Prepares To Focus Student Influence On Maine Politics, Jeff W. Beebe

Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

"SAM" --the word has a familiar ring to it, from the sixties, when the evening news opened with the day's body counts in South Vietnam and conflicting reports of fighter-jet losses in the skies over North Vietnam--'Surface-to-Air-Missile.' Another, but altogether different, "SAM" was launched in Bangor Saturday--the Student Association of Maine. Its propellant is in the person of UMO's Peter Simin, and its payload is the interests of 32,000 post-secondary students in Maine.

Inflation, Lagging Fund Drive Might Postpone Construction, Kate Arno

Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

The Second Century Fund campaign to raise money for a multi-purpose sports arena and performing arts center is running far behind its scheduled November deadline. According to Parker G. Cushman, director of the Physical Plant, parts of the planned construction for the sports arena may have to be postponed due to inflation.
