The 2015 Exit Survey of Graduate Students Completing Degrees continues the Office of Survey Research’s (OSR) survey of graduate students first initiated in 2009. The current survey was administered at the end of each quarter to students completing their graduate degree. This report summarizes responses from students who graduated in Fall 2014, Winter 2015, Spring 2015, and Summer 2015. Of the 257 recipients of this degree during this time, OSR received valid responses from 198, a response rate of 77.0%.

The current survey was administered at the end of each quarter to students completing their graduate degree. This report summarizes responses from students who graduated in Fall 2012, Winter 2013, Spring 2013, and Summer 2013. Of the 266 recipients of this degree during this time, OSR received valid responses from 204, a response rate of 76.7%. Interestingly, while this response rate is higher than those from the Graduate Exit Surveys in the past, Western had fewer …

The 2013 Non-Returning Student Survey (NRS) is Western’s first large-scale survey of students who dropped or stopped out since OIART conducted a Survey of Non-Returning Students in June, 2001. The goal of the NRS was to identify reasons for students’ failure to continuously enroll, and to identify improvements Western could implement to aid at-risk students. The graduate exit survey is a quarterly survey of all graduate students set to finish their degrees. This survey is fully explained and documented in “2010 Exit Survey of Graduate Students Completing Degrees Fall 2009, Winter 2010, Spring 2010, and Summer 2010” which may be found on the Office of Survey Research’s website (http://www.wwu.edu/socad/osr/). This addendum breaks down the data from that survey by college and department. Hopefully, this data will provide a finer degree of analysis allowing departments and colleges greater latitude in their self-evaluation efforts.

Of the 1,671 WWU spring graduates, OSR received valid responses from 1,166 students, a response rate of 69.8%.

The 2009 Exit Survey of Graduate Students Completing Degrees in the Spring or Summer of 2009 holds particular importance as it is the first formal exit survey of graduating master’s degree recipients at Western Washington University. The survey was designed to elicit information on program satisfaction, the frequency and scope of academic interaction on and off campus, barriers to success, and plans for the future. OSR uses a mixture of online and telephone survey methodologies then, when applicable, links survey results with Western’s student records, thus expanding their usefulness to researchers.
