Inquiry-Based Learning: Emirati University Students Choose Whatsapp For Collaboration, Robyn Albers, Christina Davison, Bradley Johnson

Considerable research has shown the value of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) regarding student engagement and motivation, depth of learning, and cognitive flexibility. Student collaboration is one component of this approach, since students must communicate and work together inside and outside of class time when engaging with an IBL project. Choosing a mobile learning tool can benefit student collaboration in so far as the tool enables anytime/anywhere collaborative learning. This study looked at how 118 Emirati undergraduate students in a government-sponsored university in the United Arab Emirates chose to collaborate in an IBL semester-long assignment. Finding Lost & Found: Designer’S Notes From The Process Of Creating A Jewish Game For Learning, Owen Gottlieb

This article provides context for and examines aspects of the design process of a game for learning. Lost & Found (2017a, 2017b) is a tabletop-to-mobile game series designed to teach medieval religious legal systems, beginning with Moses Maimonides’ Mishneh Torah (1180), a cornerstone work of Jewish legal rabbinic literature. Through design narratives, the article demonstrates the complex design decisions faced by the team as they balance the needs of player engagement with learning goals. In the process the designers confront challenges in developing winstates and in working with complex resource management. The article provides insight into the pathways the team …

Ouachita Baptist University’s Hickingbotham School of Business hosted its annual Business Plan Competition on Dec. 6. Chandler Blake, a senior finance and business administration major from Frisco, Texas, and Chris Clark, a senior finance and business administration major from Arkadelphia, Ark., placed first in the competition with their business, WinterTerm.com, and received a $4,000 cash prize. Blake and Clark were advised by Bryan McKinney, dean of the Hickingbotham School of Business.

Business Educator Scholarship
This exercise allows students to develop an interview protocol in which they apply best practices for effective interview techniques including job-related behavioral and situational questions, consideration of what constitutes effective responses, and attention to the candidate perspective on experience as well as that of the organization. Students make these choices in the context of an online video interviewing platform.
