Our latest collaborative research has primarily focused on studying challenges for digital pedagogy in promoting active learning and learner autonomy. These action research projects have been anchored in foreign language contexts in higher education settings. Here is a summary of two projects from 2014-2015: 1) With the goal of enhancing teaching practices in foreign language classrooms, the research project analyzed the use of student created videos to promote active learning. Using a case study of concrete tasks integrating student created videos in strengthening Spanish Language Acquisition (SLA), we were able to a)identify key characteristics of active learning, b)present the challenges …

The genesis of my novel, Brigid’s Peace, which I began in the spring of 2013 coinciding with my studies in the Presidential Seminar, was an interest in examining the need for luminosity, for transcendence, for beauty in the face of dark despair and evil. In this study it will be addressed some matters concerning children's phonological development, focusing on the development of rhyming ability for the children. Speech means pure and clearly pronunciation. For linguistic development assistance of children it is need rhyming dictionaries. They help children as to the exact pronunciation spoken words by data phonemes related their composition, as well as to encourage them to recognize new close words, but not the same with them for the pronunciation. This method helps correct pronunciation on the one hand, while on the other hand promotes vocabulary enrichment. These dictionaries play a positive role in …

This paper describes how integrating a research project into an undergraduate business school core accounting course provides opportunities to develop critical writing skills while reinforcing ethics as part of the business school curriculum. The paper discusses an end-to-end process from the overall goals and details of the assignment to assess student skills. After researching an ethical topic in business, students are challenged to complete a research paper examining the issue and stating and supporting their opinion and views of the issue. In response to an essay by Prof Wu Zongjie that was published in the Journal of Curriculum studies [43(5), (2011), 569–590], I argue that, despite dramatic changes that have taken place in the language of Chinese academic discourse and pedagogy, evidence derived from the fields of psychology and the history of Chinese educational reform suggest that patterns of Chinese thought and culture have proven resistant to change. Within the context of primary education, the study takes place in the town of Comendador, the capital of the Elías Piña province in the Dominican Republic. Throughout the papers of this book, the CIT appears not to be an abstract concept but a dynamic reality, a powerful source of inspiration for imagining creative ways to face the challenges of life in today’s world. Critical voices question the reference to Catholicism, others to a tradition. While addressing these issues helps to prevent the CIT from becoming the victim from either unreligious or traditionalist misconceptions, a synthetic approach will try to reveal fundamental dynamisms of the CIT that allow to identify it without reducing its inherent complexity and historical diversity, including its expressions yet to come.
