This paper offers a comparison of the accreditation standards of three CHEA and US Department of Education recognized business school program accreditation agencies - AACSB, ACBSP, and IACBE. It also discusses the relative challenges and benefits of achieving accreditation by these agencies. While the choice for business schools is often not very clear and is a long drawn negotiated process involving different interest groups, this paper will nevertheless offer some basis of comparison among the accreditation agencies. The use of internships is a powerful learning tool that allow business students to make connections between their classroom experience and the world of work. If designed appropriately and positioned correctly in the curriculum, they can also be an ideal opportunity to conduct assurance of learning activities related to business school accreditation. This study reports on survey results relating to business schools’ use of internships in their assurance of learning efforts and describes one school’s successful attempt to use internships as the key platform for its well-developed assurance of learning program.

This presentation explores the history and evolution of an Arbitron assessment model (Nielsen Audio) when applied in higher education, specifically Student Affairs. Highlighted are the differences between traditional models of Student Affairs assessments and a modified Arbitron assessment. This new Student Affairs assessment model allows an institutional researcher to study student feedback minute to minute, day to day, week to week basis, etc. Discussed are the strengths and weaknesses of a Nielsen Audio model when applied to Student Affairs.

This program and presentation addresses the use of factor analysis in program evaluation. Specific focus will highlight the development and selection of marker items. The goal is to label and interpret factors according to targeted questions of interest. Therefore, results are not only descriptive, but predictive - with practical application to student retention and satisfaction. Process is useful for benchmarking best practices; measuring student satisfaction and learning; tracking student participation; evaluating program results; determining future program or service needs; and, assessing effectiveness of delivered programs.

This article reports on research conducted in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District by the Society for Prevention of Violence (SPV). A total of 1500 students and 150 teachers participated in a social skills training program. Statistically significant positive results were found over the course of the 2009 - 2010 school year. A positive change in the school environment was documented via a thirty-five item learning survey. Because of the positive results, during the 2010 - 2011 school year, SPV's social skills training program is being implemented in all three Parma middle schools.

This study surveyed economic development directors from 118 cities from within the continental United States. The research concern was their strategic economic development plan. Electronic surveys asked participants to identify strategic components of their economic development plan; first, by intent of focus and second by rank-order. Designated areas of economic development included: Retail, Commercial, Residential or Industrial. In addition, the survey inquired as to their planned marketing communication channel and expected reach (i.e. footprint). The importance and relevance of ongoing assessment within Student Affairs is paramount. However, there is often a problem securing relevant information within a brief window of time typically allotted by students. Therefore, this research introduced a rapid assessment model: The One-Minute Assessment. Findings suggest that the analysis of results given the One-Minute assessment can be both descriptive and inferential, depending on the planned assessment questions.
