Madrasah education in Singapore has raised a number of issues and concerns, chief of which relate to the quality of such education and the impact that this education has on social cohesion. Because madrasah education presents itself as Islamic education, it is necessary to clarify what is meant by Islamic education in order to establish the criteria according to which madrasah education in Singapore may be assessed.
