With the introduction of the personal computer as a commodity item, many institutions have committed large capital investments to infrastructure and equipment to evolve into technology-oriented campuses. Those levels of institutional investment may not be matched by the performance capabilities of adult students attending such institutions. This study explored that phenomenon in an accelerated degree program at a Midwestern liberal arts college, with findings indicating reluctance among males to ask for assistance with PC problems and that writing skills were more developed as students progressed through the college experience using IT. The purpose of this study is to explore the attitudes, motivations, and experiences of a group of Latino Spanish-speaking and Anglo English-speaking parents whose children were participating as kindergarten and first grade students in a new Spanish two-way immersion (TWI) program in a Midwest state. An instructional website was developed as an electronic performance support system (EPSS) to determine whether faculty would use and learn from such a resource. This website summarized pedagogical information about online instruction that users could access 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In Phase I of the study, five college professors with experience teaching online courses evaluated the usability of the website and made suggestions on how it could be improved. This study examined the views and experiences of the instructors and administrators who used WebCT GOLD in the fall 2007 semester. An online survey using multiple-choice and open-ended questions was distributed to a convenience sample of the specified WebCT users at Iowa State University. Descriptive data were collected on demographics, reasons instructors changed their WebCT GOLD usage in the fall 2007 semester as compared to the previous semester, and reasons instructors used certain WebCT GOLD tools the most, while ignoring the rest. This study presents a comparative case study of curriculum implementation strategies of four teachers in two school districts, the influence of teachers' decision making on the nature of instructional tasks, and the learning environment that emanates from the two settings. The aim of the study is to gain insight into the relationships among curriculum implementation strategy, instructional tasks, and the teacher-student interaction that characterizes the classroom discourse in these settings.
