Fathers In Home Visiting: An Examination Of Father Participation In Iowa Miechv, Neil Alan Rowe

In this dissertation, father participation in early childhood home visits was examined using observational data from 50 Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) home visits where a father figure was present for a visit with a mother receiving services and a target child two years old or younger. The sample included 34 different home visitors. Videos were coded using the HVOF-R and HOVRS A+ observational tools. Fathers were more present and available during home visits than previous research indicates (Holmberg & Olds, 2015; McBride & Peterson, 1997; Raikes, Summers & Roggman, 2005). Adult students are an important subgroup in higher education. They are returning to school in numbers at higher percentage rates than their traditional counterparts. Between 2000 and 2010, the enrollment of students under age 25 increased by 34%; however, enrollment of students 25 years and over rose 42% during the same period. ABSTRACT

Community colleges serve as the college of choice for nearly half of all postsecondary students. The role of the community college continues to adapt and change, and the colleges that were once seen as vocational and technical schools now serve as a jumping off point to future educational endeavors and a variety of careers and occupations. Community colleges are aware of their increased role in postsecondary education and understand that they must continue to study their students and adapt to their needs to stay at the educational forefront.
