The stated purpose of sabbatical leaves is to improve and enrich the program of the institution by providing opportunities for professional development of the staff, and may be used for travel, study, formal education, research, writing or other experiences of professional value. The Faculty Senate recommends that any member of the professional staff who meets the requirements for eligibility be granted such a leave provided that the leave can be exercised without hindering the ongoing programs.

Resolution on Tenure was authored by the Committee on Appointment and Promotions. It includes the Justification for Tenure, Recent SUNY Developments, and Recommendations by the Committee. The recommendations include having each academic department, including the Library, and the appropriate deans submit to the Appointment and Promotions Committee by November 1, 1974 a report outlining the procedures and criteria used to determine whether a faculty member is to be recommended for tenure. Members of the Brockport teaching faculty who are absent from their Departments because of officially granted leaves, and who are expected to return to their positions, shall be privileged to vote in the matter of selecting chairpersons or acting chairpersons of their Departments, if such a selection becomes necessary during their leaves.
