The purpose if this qualitative research is to acquire new knowledge in the African visual representational landscape, a digital space carefully filmed and edited by some of the most celebrated and acknowledged, mostly Western, NGOs in the world. Implementation Of Aquaponics In Education: An Assessment Of Challenges, Solutions And Success, Emily Rose Hart
Implementation Of Aquaponics In Education: An Assessment Of Challenges, Solutions And Success, Emily Rose Hart
Masters Theses 1911 - February 2014
Aquaponics is the combination of aquaculture and hydroponic technology to grow both fish and plants together in a closed-loop system. While aquaponics can play a role in increasing food security, it may also be a potential educational tool because of its interdisciplinary nature and required technological skill set. With aquaponics, students could conduct hands-on activities involving chemistry, physics and biology to solidify their understanding of a range of theories. Beyond standard science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) principles, aquaponics may be related to projects on sustainability, environmental science, agriculture, the food system, health, economics, business and marketing. The interdisciplinary nature …
A Child With Two Motherlands: Child Sojourners And Cultural Identity, Krayushkina Tatiana
A Child With Two Motherlands: Child Sojourners And Cultural Identity, Krayushkina Tatiana
Master's Capstone Projects
The main focus of the research for my Master’s Project has been children who sojourn in a different culture for several years. When studying social phenomena, social scientists often focus on adults, representing their perceptions and attitudes towards these phenomena. Children are assumed to follow the parents as silent absorbents of the parents’ views, decisions and attitudes. I, however, have foregrounded the perspectives and voices of children themselves. In this research, I have explored the following:
How children view their cultural identity/ies;
how they practice agency in choosing one;
how identity/ies change over time;
and what influences such changes

Civics And Citizenship Education In Schools In Afghanistan, Mohammad Tariq Habibyar
Master's Capstone Projects
This thesis focuses on the status of civics and citizenship education in schools in Afghanistan. My assumption is that schools have direct impact on civics understanding of the students and how they use their civics knowledge in everyday life. Civics education raises students’ political, governance, and social awareness and informs them about their …

Challenges In The Payment Of Primary School Teachers’ Salaries: The Case Of Lilongwe District (Malawi), Ken Kaziputa Ndala
Master's Capstone Projects
This study investigated the payment system of primary teachers in Malawi with an aim of finding the weaknesses for improvement. Lilongwe district was chosen as a case study. The study followed the qualitative methods of face-to-face interviews with ministry officials at central office, division office, district office and head teachers. Other partners in the payment system were also interviewed, thus, the police and banks.
Little is known on how teachers are paid in other developing countries. A lot of work however seems to be done in teacher management with an emphasis in recruitment and deployment. Payment of teachers being part …
