The purpose of this study was to determine if the visual perception limitations of identified children affected their word recognition skills. Variables included a comparison of children with and without visual perception limitations and response to both abstract and concrete words. The questions explored in this investigation were:

This study investigated the auditory processing abilities of emotionally disturbed children. Areas examined were: auditory discrimination, auditory sequential memory, auditory closure, and auditory selective attention.

Subjects were given four tests used to measure auditory processing: The Wepman Test of Auditory

Discrimination; The Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities, auditory sequential memory and auditory closure subtests; and a professionally prepared dichotic listening tape.

The results of this study showed that although not all emotionally disturbed children have auditory processing problems, there is a tendency for a problem to occur in at least one area of auditory processing.

A Training Program To Develop Specific Manual Dexterity Skills Of Down’S Syndrome Children, Susan Patterson

This study was designed to determine if the fine motor skills of three young Down’s Syndrome children functioning below average in manual dexterity skills could be improved through a systematic training program. The selected subjects were met individually for thirty minutes a day, four days per week (Monday through Thursday), for a period of seven weeks. Each child was trained by repeated practice on ten specific tasks involving arm, hand, and finger manipulation.
