Purpose: The purpose of this Delphi study was to explore social and emotional learning in early childhood instruction with an emphasis on identifying the methods expert early childhood teachers use to support and promote the development of empathy and emotion regulation, to have the teachers rate the impact of these methods, and to identify the specific activities used to implement the six most highly rated methods.

In 2005 the American Statistical Association (ASA) endorsed the Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE) College Report. This report has had a profound impact on the teaching of introductory statistics in two- and four-year institutions, and the six recommendations put forward in the report have stood the test of time. Beyond Problem-Based Learning: How A Residency Model Improves The Education Of Pre-Service Teachers, Ryan Andrew Nivens, Renée Rice Moran

In 2010, the state of Tennessee embraced the call to overhaul teacher education and required programs to adopt a residency model within K-12 schools. How exactly this would affect the various methods courses in a teacher education program? This paper provides a description of how two elementary education methods courses have shifted from simulation-style projects to projects that involve working with actual elementary students throughout the semester. This article presents an overview of the new residency style methods courses, along with how major assignments shifted to utilize the extensive time pre-service teachers would spend in the elementary school classroom.

The personality types and learning styles of students have been studied across education populations, yet the research analyzing aviation students is lacking. A replication study assessed the distribution of personality types and learning styles of students enrolled in the aeronautical science baccalaureate degree program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Form M and the Kolb Learning Style Inventory (KLSI) were used to analyze the personality types and learning styles, respectively. The state of Kentucky has a high number of reported cases of traumatic brain injury (TBI), mostly attributed to motor vehicle crashes, falls, and being struck by or against an object. Young adults are among those most at-risk for experiencing a TBI through motor vehicle crushes. Using existing data from the Kentucky Post-School Outcomes Center ( KyPSO), 90 youth with TBI were identified within a period of 6 years of the longitudinal study (2012-2017). Giving Back: Exploring Service-Learning In An Online Learning Environment, Rochell Mcwhorter, Julie A. Delello, Paul B. Roberts

Service-Learning (SL) as an instructional method is growing in popularity for giving back to the community while connecting the experience to course content. However, little has been published on using SL for online business students. This study highlights an exploratory mixed-methods, multiple case study of an online business leadership and ethics course utilizing SL as a pedagogical teaching tool with 81 students. Results from the study noted that hours completed exceeded those assigned and students identified outcomes for themselves, their university, and nonprofit organizations where they served. This study investigated the effectiveness of flipping a 400-level event management classroom and using the team-based learning approach. Student experience and beliefs about working in groups/teams were measured using pre- and post-surveys. Focus group discussions were used to investigate factors motivating students to do their pre-class preparation. Findings revealed that the mean scores for student experience were slightly higher in the pre-survey compared to the post-survey. Additionally, participants believed that they had experienced a teaching technique called team-based learning in other courses. Four main themes emerged from the discussions: 1) great instructor, 2) appropriate course materials, 3) good team members, …

In this case study concerning “Whole-Brained” Engineering Education for undergraduate-level students, Dr. Ken Bloemer, the Director of the Visioneering Center at the University of Dayton, provided valuable information regarding this field. Voices from scholarly literature pertaining to the conversation and other undergraduate engineering curricula were then used to reinforce and give deeper insight into the various aspects of the changing engineering education format. According to the 2016 National Survey of Children’s Health, more than 46% of children across the U.S. have experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience or ACE.  Adverse Childhood Experiences can have detrimental, long-term effects on a child’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Becoming a trauma-informed school can change the negative outcomes for those students who have been impacted by traumatic events. The focus of this literature review will explore trauma-informed practices and frameworks currently being used in schools across the U.S.; and the benefits of using positive education paradigms that incorporate trauma-informed care within the educational setting.

Translated into Burmese and tested through several training-of-trainers workshops completed in Myanmar's western coastal region, the guide seeks to support educators working in diverse conflict-affected communities across the country to build greater inter-ethnic and inter-religious coexistence.
