The purpose of the study was to assess junior and senior high school family and consumer sciences teachers' attitudes and practices concerning parent involvement in the educational process. Several specific objectives and variables of interest, including attitudes, practices, efficacy, and perceived level of support from colleagues for parent involvement were assessed. The purposes of this study were to determine if Northern Sudanese women with (1) different family backgrounds (traditional, transitional, or modern), (2) different geographic locations (urban high-income, urban low-income, and rural low-income areas), and (3) different educational backgrounds differed in their attitudes toward traditional gender roles and changes occurring in these roles.
