A Study Of The Standards Used In Vocational-Technical Teacher Preparation , Israel Colón Jr.

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to determine the value, as perceived by faculty and graduates from the Vocational-Technical Education (VTE) Department at the State University of New York College at Oswego (SUNYCO), of the Standards of Quality for the Preparation and Certification of Trade and Industrial Education Teachers proposed by the National Association of Industrial and Technical Teacher Educators. Assessment Of The United States Information Agency Sponsored University Affiliation Project Between Iowa State University And The National Agriculture University Of Ukraine Using The Concerns-Based Adoption Model (Cbam), Victor A. Udin

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The problem of this study was to evaluate the success of the Iowa State University (ISU) Linkage project (Crawford & Melnichuk, 1994) at the National Agricultural University of Ukraine (NAUU). The evaluation of the project's success and the educational changes it brought about were accomplished by determining the levels of use of the key elements of this change: the revised curriculum, new methods of teaching, and new teaching materials used at NAUU. This program evaluation research of the Linkage project was conducted based on the Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM). The Levels of Use dimension of the Concerns-Based Adoption Model was applied to determine if the Linkage project was successful; The survey questionnaire consisted of sections describing the NAUU participants': demographic characteristics; knowledge of the English language; understanding of the essence of the Linkage project; awareness of the administrative changes at NAUU; and levels of use of the new curriculum developed as the result of the Linkage project. Statistical analysis revealed that neither demographic characteristics nor administrative reform has a relation to the levels of use of the main results of the Linkage project. The school environment was the only factor ...

Natural Language And Mixed Modality Task Presentations In The Human-Computer Interaction Using Programmable Logic Controllers , John Robert Wright Jr. Jan 1998

Natural Language And Mixed Modality Task Presentations In The Human-Computer Interaction Using Programmable Logic Controllers , John Robert Wright Jr.

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

This dissertation focuses on the human-computer interaction elements of task presentation and task structure in the programming of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Task presentation methods that were explored included a natural language (GE Fanuc's State Logic), and a mixed modality language (GE Fanuc's Logicmaster Relay Ladder Logic). Task Structure elements utilized in this study were linear procedural tasks and conditional branching tasks;A two-level factorial analysis of covariance determined that task presentation was a significant contributor to programming development times. Task structure and the interaction between task presentation and task structure did not yield significant p-values at the ...

An Investigation Of The Distinguishing Characteristics Of Exemplary Trainers In Business And Industry In Zimbabwe , Onward Samuel Mandebvu

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

This study investigated the demographic, psychological, interpersonal, and attitude and belief characteristics that distinguished exemplary business and industrial trainers (N = 18) and other trainers (N = 70) in Zimbabwe. Additionally, the study investigated whether work experience, academic ability, creativity, trainee-content orientation, and self-perception between the trainers grouped as business, technical, and management trainers significantly differentiated between the groups of trainers. Usable data collected from 88 business and industrial trainers through the Adult Personality Inventory (API), the Attitude and Belief Inventory (ABI), the Trainee-Content Training inventory (T-CT), and the Training Job Competence (TJC) rating scale were analyzed through discriminant analysis and hierarchical ...
