The Tale Of Two Classrooms: The Looping Experience , Jyll Johnson Miner

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

This ethnographic study describes the instructional strategies and methods of teacher planning used by two elementary looping teachers in one elementary school. Over a six month period, twenty-three interviews were conducted and fifty observations were made. Teachers discuss planning, teacher collaboration, student range of abilities, life history, integrated thematic instruction, and literacy concepts. The primary purpose of the study was to provide a description of planning and instruction from the perspective of teachers in active looping classrooms.
