The current study examined the characteristics, developmental patterns, organizational environments, and career orientations of successful individuals recognized for their leadership potential. Data were collected by means of a mailed survey. Respondents included 69 males and 38 females whose average age at the time of the study was 37.7 years;Research results suggest that the subjects tended to attribute their success to hard work, common sense, ambition, and desire to excel, and the ability to get things done.
