Application Of The Fusion Model For Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment With Non-Diagnostic Algebra-Geometry Readiness Test Data, Robert H. Fay Jul 2018

Application Of The Fusion Model For Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment With Non-Diagnostic Algebra-Geometry Readiness Test Data, Robert H. Fay

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

This study retrofitted a Diagnostic Classification Model (DCM) known as the Fusion model onto non-diagnostic test data from of the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project (UCSMP) Algebra and Geometry Readiness test post-test used with Transition Mathematics (Third Edition, Field-Trial Version). The test contained 24 multiple-choice middle school math items, and was originally given to 95 advanced 6th grade and 293 7th grade students. The use of these test answers for this study was an attempt to show that by using cognitive diagnostic analysis techniques on test items not constructed for that purpose, highly predictable multidimensional cognitive attribute profiles for …

Covariates In Factor Mixture Modeling: Investigating Measurement Invariance Across Unobserved Groups, Yan Wang Jun 2018

Covariates In Factor Mixture Modeling: Investigating Measurement Invariance Across Unobserved Groups, Yan Wang

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Factor mixture modeling (FMM) has been increasingly used to investigate unobserved population heterogeneity. This Monte Carlo simulation study examined the issue of measurement invariance testing with FMM when there are covariate effects. Specifically, this study investigated the impact of excluding and misspecifying covariate effects on the class enumeration and measurement invariance testing with FMM. Data were generated based on three FMM models where the covariate had impact on the latent class membership only (population model 1), both the latent class membership and the factor (population model 2), and the latent class membership, the factor, and one item (population model 3). …

Case Study Of A Collaborative Approach To Evaluation Within A School District Central Office, Oriana Eversole Apr 2018

Case Study Of A Collaborative Approach To Evaluation Within A School District Central Office, Oriana Eversole

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

This instrumental case study (Stake, 1995) provides an in-depth examination of a collaborative approach to evaluation within a school district’s central office. This study analyzes the implementation of collaborative approaches to evaluation (CAE) within a school district’s central office with an emphasis on evaluation use from the evaluators’ perspectives. It also explores the role and evolution of the evaluators throughout the evaluation process. Furthermore, this study adds to educational research on how to support the implementation and use of improvement processes in school district central offices. The analysis focuses on the evaluation activities that my colleagues and I led as …

Predictive Validity Of Florida’S Postsecondary Education Readiness Test, Alisa Murphy Žujović Apr 2018

Predictive Validity Of Florida’S Postsecondary Education Readiness Test, Alisa Murphy Žujović

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The role of the community college is constantly evolving. At its inception in the early 1900’s, the community college’s broad focus was to provide quality, affordable education to the members of the community the college serves. Today, that focus remains the same, but has also morphed into one that meets the specific needs of its students. One of these needs that is a critical issue for community colleges relates to developmental education.

The assessment of developmental education has been a contentious subject among higher education institutions. Defining college readiness, methods describing how to measure it, and instruments with which to …

Assessing Readiness To Seek Formal Mental Health Services: Development And Initial Validation Of The Mental Health Belief Model Assessment (Mhbma), Jennifer A. Greene Mar 2018

Assessing Readiness To Seek Formal Mental Health Services: Development And Initial Validation Of The Mental Health Belief Model Assessment (Mhbma), Jennifer A. Greene

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Only a small percentage of people with mental health issues utilize mental health services. This would seem contradictory given the increasing understanding of mental disorders, their high prevalence, and associated disability and distress. Research shows that individual level factors, such as perceptions of need, mental health knowledge, mental health attitudes, and mental health literacy, are related to individuals’ decisions to seek mental health services. The Health Belief Model (HBM) posits four types of health beliefs that affect an individual’s health behavior, in this case, the decision to seek mental health services. To date, researchers and clinicians have no assessment tool …

Missing Data In Complex Sample Surveys: Impact Of Deletion And Imputation Treatments On Point And Interval Parameter Estimates, Anh Pham Kellermann Jan 2018

Missing Data In Complex Sample Surveys: Impact Of Deletion And Imputation Treatments On Point And Interval Parameter Estimates, Anh Pham Kellermann

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this simulation study was to evaluate the relative performance of five missing data treatments (MDTs) for handling missing data in complex sample surveys. The five missing data methods included in this study were listwise deletion (LW), single hot-deck imputation (HS), single regression imputation (RS), hot-deck-based multiple imputation (HM), and regression-based multiple imputation (RM). These MDTs were assessed in the context of regression weight estimates in multiple regression analysis in complex sample data with two data levels. In this study, the multiple regression equation had six regressors without missing data and two regressors with missing data. The four …
