An Examination Of The Georgia Teacher Keys Effectiveness System, Amy Battle-Edwards

This study examined the Georgia Teachers Effectiveness System and its effects on teachers’ teaching practices, including teacher motivation and teacher behavior. This was a mixed method study that included a focus group, surveys, and document analysis to address the independent variables: Teacher Assessment Performance Standards, Professional Growth, Student Growth Percentile, Student Learning Objectives and Teacher Effectiveness Measurement.

The researcher found that the teachers that participated in this study were intrinsically motivated and the Georgia Teacher Keys Effectiveness System is a tool used to provide additional support and guidance in the classroom. A conclusion drawn from the findings suggested that the ...

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that impact achievement for African-American males in a charter school in hopes of providing insight as well as recommendations into effective ways to close the academic achievement gap between African-American males and their counterparts, specifically the so-called “achievement gap” through examination of leadership and other correlates of a successful school. It was a goal of this study to identify factors affecting African-American enrollment and intent to enroll in an advanced placement program and other select variables such as prior course work, teacher expectations, academic motivation, peer affiliation, counselor advisement, teacher perception, and student self-efficacy. Pearson correlations, ANOVA, Post Hoc and regression tests were used to analyze the data that had the greatest significance on African-American enrollment in an advanced placement program. The purpose of this study was to examine teacher and parent perceptions of the impact of a high-family engagement model, Academic Parent-Teacher Teams (APTT). Teacher and parent surveys were administered to determine the relationship between the following variables: teacher leadership, administrative support, parental perceptions of effectiveness of communications, parental perceptions of convenience of scheduling of meetings, parental perceptions of usefulness of meetings, family engagement, and student academic achievement. The purpose of this study was to examine 9th and 10th grade ELL students’ science class placement - sheltered ESL class or non-sheltered mainstream class - and determine if there was a difference in their levels of achievement based on placement. Unlike other academic courses, science incorporates its own terminology that can be difficult for even mainstream non-ELLs to understand. With the goal for English Language Learners to develop scientific proficiency, ELLs must gain an understanding of science substance and practice exploratory propensities for the brain.
