Terrorism in the United States has been a critical topic for many years, with one of the most well-known terrorist attacks taking place on September 11, 2001. In the Middle East, terrorist attacks often manifest in the form of suicide bombings. With recent bombings, such as the Boston Marathon and an American al Qaeda suicide bomber in Syria, the risk of an American suicide bomber in the United States is beginning to rise. This presentation explores the forensic psychological patterns exhibited by suicide bombers which can potentially aid in the development of the next terrorism frontier.

In an effort to prevent terrorism, many political and social resources have been invested. Nevertheless, there has been a lack of scientific evidence explaining the foundation of the psychological process in all levels of terrorist involvement. More specifically, the identification and development of effective assessment models, as well as defining

characteristics, of those engaged. This presentation focuses on the complexity of the psychosocial and multicultural process of terrorists. Furthermore, possible predictive models for terrorist offenders will be examined for preventative measures.

The development of the Internet has made it easy for individuals to communicate with others around the world, especially with the increased ease of social media. The Internet is used for interpersonal communication such as social media, meeting new people in chat rooms, joining interest distribution lists, among others leisure activities (Lennings, Amon, Brummert, & Lennings, 2010). According to Pew Research (2014), 74% of adults, with 89% of individuals ages 18-29 using social media extensively. Terrorism is a serious issue that affects lives around the world. Is there a way to deter terrorists from engaging in terrorist attacks? According to the Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI), there are two types of terrorism to consider: domestic and international. For the purpose of this paper, international terrorism is defined as terrorism that takes place outside of the jurisdiction of the United States and domestic terrorism occurs in the United States (FBI, 2011).
