In Search Of Best Practices In Christian School Governance, Kenneth S. Coley

Christian Perspectives in Education

The purpose of this research is to examine to what extent certain governance practices exist in Christian schools in the U.S. Practices that impact the relationship between the Board and the school administrator are the main focus. The mixed-method data collection included a nationwide survey (n=645) of school administrators. Statistically significant differences were found between schools that are accredited and those that are non-accredited.

Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia has expanded since 1971 to become the largest Christian university in the world. Liberty will be used in this paper as a contemporary example of a Christian university that has maintained its Christian commitment. Liberty will be contrasted with numerous Christian colleges and universities that had similar missions but have eventually lost their religious affiliations and their Christian-oriented focus. Supporting career development in adolescents is a perplexing issue for educators. In response, educators are implementing various interventions assisting students in the exploration process. The purpose of this causal comparative study was to determine the effect of the career education course employed by a rural high school in Tennessee on student selection of a program of study and career maturity. Upon completion of the semester, a convenient sample of 79 ninth grade students completed the Career Maturity Inventory-form C along with a program of study selection inquiry. The purpose of this quantitative, correlational study was to investigate the relationship between time assigned to in-school suspension and the math and reading scores on the 2013-2014 Georgia Criterion Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) for 6th to 8th grade regular education, African American male students. Archival data from school databases were used for this study.
