Nahum Stutchkoff's Yiddish Play And Radio Scripts In The Dorot Jewish Division, New York Public Library, Amanda (Miryem-Khaye) Seigel

Judaica Librarianship

The Nahum Stutchkoff collection in the Dorot Jewish Division of The New York Public Library contains Yiddish translations, plays, song lyrics, and radio programs created by Yiddish linguist and playwright Nahum Stutchkoff (1893–1965). This article describes the collection in the context of the Jewish Division’s holdings, using bibliographic details about his known works to trace Stutchkoff’s career as a Yiddish actor, translator, director, playwright, and linguist. Stutchkoff’s radio scripts in particular provide rare documentation of the golden era of Yiddish radio explored by Henry Sapoznik and Ari Y. Kelman. A detailed bibliography of Stutchkoff’s published ...

Technology Enhanced Learning: Students' Views, Eileen O'Donnell, Mary Sharp

User feedback is very important in all areas of computer science especially in the development of computer applications. Hence, student feedback on the use of technology enhanced learning in higher education in Ireland is relevant to the quality of the learning resources to be created by learning designers and academics in the future. The book “Student Reactions to Learning with Technologies: Perceptions and Outcomes” (Moyle & Wijngaards, 2012) was published by IGI Global in October 2011. This book includes contributions from various authors who are interested in students’ feedback regarding how technology has impacted on their educational experience. This book provides feedback from students located in different countries. Chapter 10: “Students’ views of E-Learning: The impact of technologies on learning in higher education in Ireland ” (O'Donnell & Sharp, 2012) provides feedback from three hundred and twenty students to inform learning designers and academics about students’ thoughts and opinions on the impact of technologies on learning in higher education in Ireland. This research was conducted in both Trinity College Dublin and the Dublin Institute of Technology. The responses received from the students who kindly participated in this study were analyzed and the findings are presented in this chapter. Analysis of the responses received from these students indicates that students are of the opinion that the use of technologies in higher education can beneficially transform learning; however, technologies will never replace lecturers.

Agrarian reform is a necessary condition for agricultural modernization and rural industrialization and the fundamental mooring for global competition. Agrarian Reform has contributed to improvement of the socio-economic conditions of landless farmers and political development of the Philippines in terms of engaging the landless in the process of policy making and distribution of large private landholdings to the landless. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer And A Four-Year-Old: Lessons For Leadership & Life, Connie I. Reimers-Hild Dec 2011

Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer And A Four-Year-Old: Lessons For Leadership & Life, Connie I. Reimers-Hild

Kimmel Education and Research Center - Faculty & Staff Publications

Last week while I was in the shower, my four-year-old daughter, Raquel, walked into the bathroom and asked me an interesting question. “Mom, why doesn’t anyone like Rudolph’s shiny red nose?” My daughter was supposed to be in bed sleeping. I am 99% sure she was lying in bed reflecting on her day.

Many nights I have quietly checked on her before going to bed myself only to find her talking to herself while she makes vivid hand gestures and motions. On this particular evening, her talk and gestures must have focused on Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. After ...

Interest in integrative health care is a growing area of health practice, combining conventional medical treatments with safe and effective complementary and alternative medicine. These modalities relate to both improving physical and psychological well-being, and enhancing conventional talk therapy. In an interdisciplinary collaboration, teaching and library faculty have created a series of sixteen on-line video interviews that introduce practitioner-relevant experiences to students as supplemental course material. These videos are available through the department web-pages to students in other related disciplines as well, including Social Work, Counselor Education, Psychology, and the Colleges of Public Health, Nursing, and Medicine. Hiring And Recruitment As Rhetorical Strategies: An Analysis Of The Way Businesses Approach Graduating University Students And Influence Their Choices, Sean D. Gibson Dec 2011

Hiring And Recruitment As Rhetorical Strategies: An Analysis Of The Way Businesses Approach Graduating University Students And Influence Their Choices, Sean D. Gibson

Communication Studies

To answer the question, which rhetorical strategies are most persuasive to university graduates regarding hiring and recruitment, I surveyed three classrooms with a questionnaire that gauged university graduates attraction to three different types of rhetorical strategies. The rhetoric came from three major businesses that recruit university graduates: College Works Painting, Peace Corps, and Hewlett Packard.

Each one of these businesses uses a different type of strategy to recruit university graduates. College Works Painting uses an Experience Illusion strategy based on the premise that the company will help train university graduates to become managers and leaders in business. Peace Corps’ uses ...

A Comparison Of Internet Marketing Methods Utilized By Higher Education Institutions, Joseph Clayton Mccoy Dec 2011

A Comparison Of Internet Marketing Methods Utilized By Higher Education Institutions, Joseph Clayton Mccoy

Theses and Dissertations

Use of Internet marketing techniques in higher education to attract prospective students is relatively new. While the research is recent, there are several studies that identify what is most valuable to students seeking information on college web sites. Higher education is now facing increasing competition from for-profit schools and reduced funding from typical sources. This study examines how two different Carnegie classifications use Internet marketing techniques and identifies if there is a difference in how much they use these techniques. Content techniques and search engine optimization (SEO) techniques were examined for 56 higher education institutions in this study. Of the ...

The Increasing World Population: A Call For Entrepreneurial Leadership & Innovation, Connie I. Reimers-Hild

Kimmel Education and Research Center - Presentations and White Papers

According to the United Nations, the world’s population hit 7 billion on October 31, 2011. The United Nations is projecting the world population to reach 9.3 billion by 2050. The new population landmark set off alarms in governments and organizations around the world. Most of the growth will occur in the poorest and least developed regions of the world, which already must work to resolve issues related to shortages of quality food, soil, air and water. Many people living in these countries also lack access to education, healthcare and global political capital. This white paper discusses the importance ...

Faith, Spirituality, And Sustainability, C. William Pollard Nov 2011

Faith, Spirituality, And Sustainability, C. William Pollard

C. William Pollard Papers

This speech was delivered at the University of Arkansas's Tyson Center for Faith and Spirituality in the Workplace (Fayetteville, AR). In it Pollard considers the 2008 financial crisis, which he believes requires business leaders to adopt new models of leadership and new ways of educating future managers. Such measures will ensure that corporate firms will always consider profit alongside the more significant goal of forming moral character.
