The Effects Of Certain Value Clarification Activities Upon Job Corps Enrollees, Donald Nims
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The Job Corps program is designed to provide academic and vocational training to high school dropouts. It is assumed that in order for a young person to succeed in our society certain values, such as good health, education, job satisfaction, and desire to earn an acceptable pay, are required. Job Corps seeks to foster these values in the young men and women who enter this training program. To evaluate the effectiveness of this process a study was conducted regarding the effect of value clarification on male Job Corps enrollees. Over a ninety-day period an experimental group of twenty (20) enrollees …

A Memo To Developers, Robert Russell
Non-Formal Education
Between January, 1976 and September, 1977, a nonformal education team from the University of Massachusetts (U.S.A.), Center for International Education engaged in an exploration of cultural groups as potential community development resources. As part of its nonformal education project with the Peoples' Educational Association (P.E.A.) the UMass team also worked closely with the Institute of Adult Education (I.A.E.) at Legon. The P.E.A. has four active cultural group branches in the eastern region and these formed the core of the research. It is our belief that the findings of this study will be of great interest to development agencies and we …

Content Analysis Of The Florida State Assessment Test And The Duval County Essential Skills Test, Carol V. Slack
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
As stated before, both the Florida State Assessment Test and the EST measure the achievement of students on minimal objectives in the areas of communications and mathematics. One might therefore ask the question, “Why is there a need to administer both tests?”
It would seem that both tests evaluate similar subject areas. This study is designed to explore this similarity of test items. Its purpose is to examine the relationship between the tests in terms of the test items. It is assumed that if there is a high degree of semblance between test items, there may not be a need …
Construction, Administration, And Validation Of A Test Of Oral Language Usage, Ronald Harrison
Construction, Administration, And Validation Of A Test Of Oral Language Usage, Ronald Harrison
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
We as teacher of English are faced with the task of preparing students for the world they will meet when they leave the classroom—a world that will judge them in part by their ability to manipulate the language to their advantage. And yet to measure the use of language, we rely almost exclusively on written measurements. It seems likely that students may easily learn to give the teacher the answer he wants on written tests of English usage. Oral tests are commercially available, but many are prohibitively expensive; others require hours of instruction before the teacher can consider himself qualified …
