Since the opening of the new Ralston High School in 1968, the student enrollment has increased and new programs have been developed. The period of 1968 through 1972 was a period of rapid growth.and development in the athletic program. More students were being involved in athletics. In particular, the boys' athletic program was making big strides. With the involvement of more boys, junior varsity and sophomore teams were created, and additions were made to the coaching staff. However, the girls' athletic program was struggling for survival. The budgets for the respective programs were not proportionate. The boys' coaching staff out …

Interval training is defined by Fox and Mathews (1974) as a series of repeated bouts of exercise alternated with periods of rest or relief. Much research has been done comparing different intensities, durations, and work-relief ratios in interval training, and how these affect the development. of the various physiological systems of the body. Little, however, has been done to compare the development of aerobic power with the duration and intensity of the work interval varied, with frequency per week held constant. Much of the discrimination against women in education exists unconsciously and through practices long entrenched in tradition. The Title IX legislation requires educators in the next year, and for years to come, to begin a far reaching self-examination of their total program offerings. Educators should attempt tb identify any discriminatory policies or practices which may exist within their institutions and take whatever remedial actions that is necessary.
