The purpose of this study was to examine the methods used by three school districts--a small district, a medium-sized district, and a larger district--which have set up centralized technical services for the organization of learning resource materials, thereby relieving the individual librarian within the buildings of certain necessary, but time-consuming tasks. These methods will be set down herein and studied with the possibility in mind that districts which do not now provide these services may find some suggestions to consider in deciding upon the feasibility of such services.

The purpose of this survey was (1) to determine the purchasing power and buying habits of a typical student, for himself and others, in a small high school over a specific period of time; (2) to compare the amounts (commodities and services) spent by boys and girls; (3) to determine the relative buying habits and purchasing capacities of different high school classes; (4) to ascertain if students living in-town spend more or less than those living out-of-town; and (5) to compare the purchasing results of this survey with two other selected similar surveys that have been completed on consumer buying.

The purpose of this study was to examine five basic reading programs at the third grade level to identify instructional lessons presented in two categories of context clues and three types of structural clues. The two categories of contextual clues were word clues and typographical clues. The three types of structural clues were prefixes, suffixes, and inflectional endings. Identification of the variety of clues and frequency of clue lessons in each textbook series and the similarities and differences in presentation among series was also considered an important part of the purpose for this study.
