The driver education program being operated in this state is not adequate in terms of meeting the course standards issued by the U. S. Department of Transportation. The purpose of this study is two- fold: (1) To present a basic course outline that will meet the federal standards, and (2) to assist school district superintendents in determining the essential scheduling and staff requirements to conduct a satisfactory driver education program.

The purpose of this study was to examine five basic reading programs at the third grade level to identify instructional lessons presented in two categories of context clues and three types of structural clues. The two categories of contextual clues were word clues and typographical clues. The three types of structural clues were prefixes, suffixes, and inflectional endings. Identification of the variety of clues and frequency of clue lessons in each textbook series and the similarities and differences in presentation among series was also considered an important part of the purpose for this study.

This study used the II:PPS and the AVLSV to test seven hypotheses. These hypotheses asked if there was significant difference at the .05 level as measured by the "t" test between experienced teachers of special education and incoming prospective teachers of special education, of experienced teachers of special education and graduating prospective teachers of special education, and of experienced teachers of special education and the college normal samples as published by the test manual. A study to determine if teacher-trainees who view a videotape replay of themselves practicing specific teaching skills prior to receiving an analysis of their lesson will score significantly higher on a specially designed rating instrument than trainees who practice the same skills but receive no videotape-replay and must rely on their ability to recall a mental image as they receive an analysis of their lesson.
