The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual literature for children about New Mexico. The influences of Indian, the Spanish-American, and the Anglo-American cultures of New Mexico on children's literature have been considered. Interesting and outstanding personalities in the field of children's literature also have been presented, and the chronological development of children's literature of New Mexico has been traced.

A Simplified Revision Of The Keston Music Preference Test, Barbara Jean Snodgrass

The purpose of this study was to revise and simplify a new and involved test of musical preference. The Keston Music Preference Test in its original form consisted of sixteen phonograph record discs, or thirty-two sides in all. It took approximately three hours to administer, and the grading procedure was extremely complex and time consuming. However, in spite of these difficulties, the test has demonstrated its usefulness in measuring musical discrimination, or musical sophistication among high school students and college students. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the impact or influence of television on the attitudes and behavior of school children of elementary, junior high, and senior high school age. Factors which may affect their behavior are: (1) the amount of time pupils spend in watching television compared to time spent in other activities; (2) their preferences for types of programs; (3) the esteem held for television in relation to other social activities of the family; and (4) the effect, if any, of television on the career interests of youth.
