After having majored in Commercial Education and having taught bookkeeping for three years, the writer is attempting to organize his past experiences, knowledge, and material into a concise form. It is hoped that by so doing it will be possible to make a course of study in beginning bookkeeping interesting and beneficial to his students and help the teacher do a better job of teaching.

This thesis is a study of jigs and fixtures and a classification of typical examples collected from the school wood shops. A definition of the terms, jig and fixture, as they apply to the school wood shop is offered. The chief sources of information were: interviews with school and college wood shop instructors and with furniture factory superintendents. Visitations were made to school and college wood shops and to furniture factories. Letters were sent to the outstanding shop instructors of this vicinity. The available literature was analyzed.
