Ouachita Baptist University teams won first, second and fifth place in this year’s OBU/HSU Business Plan Competition, held on Henderson State University’s campus April 23. Senior Cole Jester earned first place in the competition for his business plan, Bone Dri, along with a $4,000 cash prize.

Ouachita Baptist University’s Cole Jester, a senior Christian studies/biblical studies and political science double major from Benton, Ark., received third place and a $10,000 cash prize in the undergraduate division of the annual Governor’s Cup Business Plan Competition, held in Little Rock earlier this spring, for his business plan Bone Dri. Following the competition March 28-29, the Governor’s Cup winners were announced at an awards luncheon on April 11.

Ouachita Baptist University’s Hickingbotham School of Business hosted its 10th annual Business Plan Competition on Dec. 5. Cole Jester, a senior Christian studies/biblical studies major from Benton, Ark., placed first in the competition with his business plan for Bone Dri and received a $4,000 cash prize. Jester was advised by Bryan McKinney, dean of the Hickingbotham School of Business, associate professor of business law and university counsel.

Three Ouachita Baptist University students recently were recognized as finalists in the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup business plan competition in Little Rock, Ark. These students competed against other students from universities around the state for cash prizes and a chance to compete in the Tri-State Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup competition in Las Vegas later in May.

The team of Jake Edmondson, Cole Jester and Evan McKinnon won the 8th annual Ouachita Baptist University Business Plan Competition on Feb. 1 with BestBook, an intra-campus book trading system.

“We connect people on campuses trying to sell books with students on campus trying to buy those same books,” explained Jester, a senior Christian studies/Biblical studies and political science double major from Benton, Ark. “Coming in first was extremely significant to us as it validated a business idea we had worked on for months."
