The purpose of this study was to mea sure secondary distributive education students' perceptions and attitudes toward their teacher coordinators in the Utah secondary schools . The student scores were then analyzed to determine if there were any differences which may be attributed to a specific teacher characteristic such as age, sex, teaching experience, vocational work experience, and academic preparation.

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) organizations serve the business youth of today--the business leaders of tomorrow. These organizations, founded by Hamden L. forkner, have been in existence since 1942. The first FBLA chapter was chartered at Johnson City, Tennessee; and the first PBL chapter was charted at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, (now the University of Northern Iowa).1

Chapter growth has been rapid with the latest figures showing 4,587 FBLA chapters and 461 PBL chapters now in existence in 44 states and 3 territories.2

SODIA is the acronym for a new elementary teacher preparation program initiated in the Fall of 1972 which was designed to be field centered and competency based.

The population of the study consisted of 104 elementary student teachers enrolled in student teaching during Fall and Winter Quarters of the 1973-74 academic year. Relative differences in attitudes between educators and employers concerning training of the mentally retarded within Cache County were studied by analyzing their responses to 40 questions dealing with Academic, Personal, Social, and Vocational Skills.

The first was the development of environmental education field trip guides to areas in Cache Valley for teachers in grades three through six that would provide learning activities that cannot be structured in the classroom. Six field trip guides to areas of Cache Valley with accompanying activities and discussion questions were constructed. The guides were tested in the field by three groups of teachers and students and teachers not participating in the field test evaluated the guides for difficulties they would encounter in using the guides.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of 20 hours of remedial reading instruction as compared with 20 hours of vocabulary instruction on a select group of university freshmen in the Remedial English Program. Three measures of effectiveness used were comprehension, rate, and effective reading rate. The effective reading rate was determined by computing the arithmetic product of level of comprehension and rate of reading. The results indicated that for this particular population, using the materials and instructional techniques described, neither group increased reading rate at the .01 level of significance. The purpose of this study was to investigate, compare, and analyze personal-social needs of rural and urban students who were preparing for occupations in the industrial education areas.

The study was a descriptive research which employed the survey technique using the Minnesota Importance Questionnaire. The questionnaire was administered to high school students in the state of Utah classified in two categories: 151 industrial and agricultural students enrolled in rural high schools and 91 industrial vocational students enrolled in urban high schools.

A questionnaire on drinking behavior and attitudes was administered to 292 delinquent youth confined in youth detention homes in St. Anthony, Idaho, and Ogden, Utah, and to 466 students i n the secondary schools of the Pocatello. School District, Pocatello, Idaho.

Using a Chi Square analysis, comparisons were made of responses between the delinquent and non-delinquent groups to questions regarding first drinking experience, present drinking behavior, attitudes toward drinking, criminal acts while drinking alcoholic beverages, age, race, sex, family income, population of area lived in, with whom the students lived, and parents' drinking behavior. The study attempted to determine the current expenditures for secondary school guidance programs in Utah. In addition, the study attempted to evaluate the adequacy of selected guidance programs and to determine if a relationship existed between guidance expenditures and adequacy of guidance programs.

Fiscal data were collected, tabulated, and analyzed using financial reports from the Utah Office of Education. Further, response forms were administered to students, school administrators, counselors, and teachers in an attempt to elicit responses from these persons relative to their perceptions of guidance program adequacy in their respective schools.

Questionnaires were mailed to Utah high school business teachers and to Utah high school principals.

Sixty-six per cent of the responding teachers bad never served as a business youth club sponsor; and 69 per cent of the teachers had never belonged to a business youth organization in high school or in college.

This study was undertaken to determine the number, type, and requirements of entry-level office positions in Ogden, Utah, banks.

Questionnaires were taken to the participating banks in the Ogden, Utah, banking community. The responding banks indicated that they would consider recent high school graduates to all of the positions studied; however, a majority of the banks preferred to hire females rather than males to to the office positions studied.

All of the responding banks required some type of requirement for each of the office entry-level positions, and majority of the banks required a pre-employment test of the applicants. This information …
