"The preparation of youth to succeed in the world of work is an important objective of the American high school."1 Students enroll in high school distributive education to develop an employable skill. The instructional program provides students with a variety of learning activities related to their occupational goals.

Distributive education has expanded to serve the whole range of distributive occupations, after starting mainly as a means of training retail sales persons. An important characteristic of distributive education has been the necessity for rapid adjustment to the changing business conditions.

The interview has been the "nerve center" in the hiring process for many years. The job interview has been defined by Heck and O'Neil (1976) as "A process of mutual inquiry between two individuals involving transmission and evaluation of information. Thus, the interview is a direct and mutual process of sharing and evaluating information" (p. 10).

The purpose of this study was to construct and validate an assessment instrument which could effectively measure the impact of implementing an environmental education component to the Level III program of the elementary teacher training program at Utah State University. It was the hope of this researcher that the test would also be administered to Level III students upon completion in subsequent quarters to indicate individual competence in environmental education.

A pre-service needs inventory was field tested for possible use by counselors of the Utah State Division of Rehabilitation Services. The field testing was carried out by utilizing two groups of consultants for evaluating format, content, and usability of the inventory.

Examination of the data collected from the consultants indicated that a pre-service needs inventory was helpful during the intake process and in filling out the Individual Written Rehabilitation Program. It also indicated that the checklist was broad enough to gather sufficient information and that the instructions were adequate. This study was devised to determine the readiness of preschool children to learn about basic concepts of nutrition. Sixty preschool children enrolled in the Utah State University Child Development Laboratory, comprised the sample. Twenty children were taught at home by parents, 20 were taught at the Laboratory, and 20 received no instruction. The curriculum was based on the concept of nutrient density and used the Index of Nutritional Quality (INQ) in developing instructional materials. The purpose of this study was to assess the opinions of Utah State University music graduates regarding (a) the effectiveness of their training at Utah State University and (b) the applicability of the current music and secondary education department objectives to the graduates own teaching situations. An additional objective was to compare teaching assignments of the graduates.

A survey questionnaire was utilized to obtain the data and a return of 85% of the accessible sample was achieved. The sample included all music graduates of Utah State University from 1970- 1977.

It was the objective of this study to determine the common denominators involved with the work-related fatalities and their strengths.

An analysis using the X2 statistic was conducted on all the work related fatalities reported to the Utah Industrial Commission during the period January 1, 1976, through December 31, 1978.

It was determined that Age and Time on the Job were the two areas with the greatest significance difference as common denominators. It was concluded that there was a need for training programs to offset the effects of both age and time on the job.

The purpose of this study was to determine if there had been a significant change in the academic achievement, as measured by Grade XII grade-point averages, of Alberta's matriculation graduates since the accreditation of Alberta high schools in 1973.

The experimental population consisted of 100, 1971-72 and of 100, 1976-77 matriculation graduates who had graduated from schools in the rural school jurisdictions in Education zone 6; and of 100, 1971-72, and of 100, 1976-77 matriculation graduates who had graduated from schools in the Medicine Hat urban school jurisdiction. A study was done of the attendance of 1,251 non-handicapped and 131 handicapped pupils in the Weber County, Ogden, Utah School District. This study was done at the request of the district administration. The basic questions were 1) would there be a difference in attendance of the handicapped and the non-handicapped and 2) would the reasons for absence differ as stated on excuses presented to the office.

Data for the entire 1978-79 school year were tallied and analyzed. There were no significant differences in the attendance rates of the two groups. Inspection of the data showed that there was a …

The purpose of this paper was to produce supplementary curriculum materials which would provide junior high school Utah history students with growth experiences in critical thinking, creative thinking, and positive affective values. These materials were produced in the form of forty separate, self-contained learning activity modules using the study of presentday Utah or Utah history as a focus of study.
