A more important goal was to probe the existing fallacies and beliefs that surround one of the most controversial areas in the field of language arts, manuscript-style handwriting. The most important goal was to diagnose the usage and extension trends of manuscript writing within the elementary schools of the state of Washington.

It was the purpose of the present study to evaluate the block of time as it is used in Yakima junior high schools. This study had a twofold intent: first to review the literature on the block of time as related to core philosophy, and second to present the results of a study of the activities of Yakima junior high school teachers in the block of time and its related core techniques as well as the results of a study of attitudes toward the block of time as it appears in the Yakima junior high schools.

The present study was undertaken in an effort to add to the slowly accumulating evidence concerning the worth of outdoor education projects in the following ways: (1) by describing in detail a three-day outdoor learning experience of a fifth grade class in the Swauk area of Kittitas County, Washington; (2) by carefully explaining and describing the procedures by which the experience was evaluated; (3) by presenting the results of the evaluation; and (4) by drawing tentative conclusions as to the value of this type of program.

The purposes of this study are: (1) to acquaint the reader with some of the studies already published on the relationship between the ACE and mathematic grades and other devices for predicting success in mathematics; (2) to present information on the relationship between the ACE and the first year mathematics grades at Central Washington college of Education; and (3) to present information on the relationship between grades in the different mathematics classes taught primarily during the freshman year at CWCE.
